Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 3247

Jane said, “Okay. We can get the present when we go shopping for clothes tomorrow.”

She did not offer to pay for the present. She would let Laurence use his money.

He had some savings and did not lack money.

He managed his finances. Since he wanted to give Sonny a present, he would have to pay for it himself.

“What present should I get for Sonny?”

Laurence sounded as if he was asking Jane and muttering to himself simultaneously.

Jane said gently, “Since it’s a gift for Sonny, you should get something he likes.”

Laurence was in a dilemma. “Sonny loves food. He already has a lot of toys.”

“You can get him some food then.”

“Sonny isn’t picky. He eats everything as long as it doesn’t kill him. If so, won’t I have to prepare many presents?”

Laurence was a little concerned about his money. He looked toward Jane, looking as if he wished Jane could sponsor him but was embarrassed to ask.

He was the one who said he would pay for Sonny’s present himself. Sonny was his friend.

His mentors, Uncle Ben and Mommy Jane taught him to keep his promises and never go back on his word.

‘Wait. They said I must be a responsible man who doesn’t break promises. Since I haven’t grown up, I’m not a man yet. Does this mean I don’t have to keep my promise?’

As Laurence was still young, the Johnson family often said he was a child who did not know how to earn money. The only thing he could do was to save the pocket money given to him.

Although he disliked the writing exercises, he decided to spend a few days on it to get the money.

If he finished the exercises before Sonny came, he could thoroughly enjoy his time with Sonny.

“Do you think Sonny will like it if I buy some tracing and practice books for him, Mommy Jane?”

“Are you giving those exercise books as a gift to Sonny?”

Jane guessed that Laurence must have hauled a bag full of tracing and exercise workbooks home.

Some of them were simple math practice.
