Belinda could not be bothered to talk to Adrian any longer.

After scolding him, she said, “I’ll hang up if you have nothing else.”

“I’ll help Carol out, Mom. I don’t have anything else to say. You get busy then.”

Belinda ended the call.

Adrian breathed a sigh of relief.

He raised his hand to wipe the cold sweat that beaded his forehead when he hastily accused his mother earlier.

Adrian must have been terrified for him to sweat on a cold day.

Caroline passed him a piece of tissue.

Adrian put the phone down and accepted the tissue. He wiped his sweat and said, “I was scared shitless just now. I don’t even know what came over me.”

“You must’ve eaten a bowl of courage to say that.”

Adrian glared at her. He complained, “It’s your fault. Why did you pass the phone to me when you and Mom were speaking? I fear her so much now. I feel like a mouse that has spotted a cat whenever I see her.”

“Weren’t you the one who asked when she’ll be back? I didn’t know the answer and since I was on the call with Mom, I decided to let you ask so you can find out.

“You’re afraid of Mom because you did something wrong and disappointed her. Emma is utterly disappointed in you too. You ruined your own marriage. Why can’t you men control your urges? You guys like walking on edge to have everything instead of living a comfortable life.”

Adrian’s expression darkened. “I’m your eldest brother, Caroline. Can you show some respect in your words? You better find someone who can control his desires in the future. Otherwise…”

He cut off his sentence right there.

Caroline replied coldly, “I’ll divorce that man and chase him out immediately if he dares betray me. I won’t give him a second chance, even if he’s willing to lose his manhood for it.
