Seven Days Seven Nights (Nicholas and Nancy) novel Chapter 184

Chapter 184 Shocked Nancy

As expected, an awkward silence fell when Nancy gave her answer.

Nicholas frowned. “Why are you thinking about Madelline?”

“She’s your first love and the woman you love the most. Every time she comes back, you change. You schemed and plotted to divorce me just because of her. Do you think I can really be calm in the face of that?” Nancy muttered.

“Are you worried I’ll be stolen away?” Finally, Nicholas was in a better mood again.

She nodded. “Yes,”

Now, he was no longer angry.

Instead, she was the one who was angry.

He knew she was worried about that, yet he acted like it was nothing.

Suddenly, Nancy was wrapped in a hug.

Nicholas’ hands gently stroked her hair as he looked at her with warm eyes. “My silly girl, she’s already out of the country. She won’t be back again or affect us.”

“What if she comes back one day?” Nancy’s eyes were red with anger. “Will you push me away to return to her embrace?”

“What are you saying? Putting aside the fact that she can’t come back, even if she does, nothing will change. Nancy, all you need to know is that you are the woman I love now. That is enough.”

Nancy did not know if she should believe Nicholas’ words.

In the past, she had always thought the greatest barrier between them was the lack of love. She now realized that even if they loved each other, there were many insurmountable divides between them.

Even at this stage, she did not know if she was making the right decision.

She was utterly lost.

“Who is this Mr. Jadin that woman mentioned just now? Do you like him?” Nicholas abruptly asked as he recalled what happened a few minutes ago.

Nancy immediately shook her head. “It’s nothing. Everyone just misunderstood what’s going on.”

“Oh?” He did not quite believe that.

“It’s true. Everyone’s just mistaken. It’s because Mr. Jadin is single and quite handsome. We bumped into each other a few times, so my colleagues all think I’m doing it on purpose. Now, there are rumors about how I bumped into him to get his attention because I like him. It was honestly just an accident.”

Nancy did not hide anything and told Nicholas everything.

“Accident?” His gaze darkened.

“It really was an accident. There was a time when my colleagues saw me staring at him. That’s why they thought I liked him. It was all because of you, though.”

He raised an eyebrow and silently waited for her to continue.

“It was that day in the restaurant. The lights were dim. While he drank with everyone else, I thought he looked like you, especially the way he held himself. Hence, I glanced at him a few times. That was when the rumors started.”

“Is his full name Julian Jadin?” Nicholas asked.

Nancy nodded, surprise flashing in her eyes. “Yes. Do you know him?”

“No,” he responded without hesitation before saying. “I have heard of him, though. Listen to me, Nancy. Stay away from him, especially everyone in his family.”

“Okay.” She nodded.

Julian was the head of the hospital, and Nancy was just a medical student who was interning there. As a doctor who did not even stand a chance to hold a scalpel, she would never interact with him that often.

Hence, they were not close.

To her surprise, Nicholas seemed to find Julian important enough to emphasize once more, “Nancy, did you hear me? Stay away from him and his family. Do not accept anything his family gives you.”

He then prompted in a louder voice, “Got it?”

“Yes. I will remember that,” she said with another nod.

When Nancy was about to clock off for the day, one of her colleagues told her a wealthy middle-aged. woman was looking for her.

Nancy was confused as she did not know anyone who was considered wealthy.

At most, she could only name her mother. Even then, her mother had always kept a low profile and never dressed up like she was rich.

Nancy only realized who it was when she saw the woman and smelled the perfume lingering in the air.

It really was a wealthy middle-aged woman.

Furthermore, it was Julian’s mother.

“Hello, ma’am. I hear you’re looking for me. Are you sure you have the right person?” Nancy asked, surprised

Unexpectedly, the woman nodded. “Yes. I’m looking for you. Well? How do you find the hospital? Has it been easy adjusting to work? Do you have any problems? Just let Julian know if there’s anything wrong. and he’ll fix it for you.”

Her rambling speech shocked Nancy.

However, she did not know this woman at all.

It was extremely unlikely the woman was asking for her because of Julian, as Nancy did not know him. well enough to even be considered an acquaintance.

The woman gently chuckled when she saw Nancy’s confusion.

“Oh, don’t be shy. Terence told me everything. Julian saved you a few days ago, and you stayed over at his place. My son is a great man, but he just refuses to get a girlfriend. When I heard that he brought you home, I was ecstatic and…”

The woman held out a gift box. “Here, a little gift for you. It’ll have to do for now. Once you two are in a steady relationship. I’ll have more gifts for you.”

That confused Nancy even more. She was practically petrified by now.

What is going on? Why do I not understand a single word?

“N-No, wait… Ma’am, please calm down. I believe there’s a misunderstanding. When did Mr. Jadin take me home?”

The woman paused in thought and said, “During the welcoming party for the new staff. You were drunk, and Julian carried you to the car and took you home.”

The more she spoke, the more bewildered Nancy was. Right now, she was so confused that her mind. was blank.
