Seven Days Seven Nights (Nicholas and Nancy) novel Chapter 205

Chapter 205 Hardening His Heart Against Madelline

“Hello. Is that you, Nancy?”

When a woman’s crisp voice rang out, Puck slapped Felix in the face and glared at him.

Puck was about to throw the phone when Madelline continued, “Nancy, are you looking for Nicholas? Hang on. I’ll call him over.”

However, Madelline ended the call.

Call him over? Why would I ever do that?

Meanwhile, Felix was cupping his face while pleading, “Mr. Wolfe! You heard her, Mr. Wolfe. That woman said the name Nicholas. It really is his number. My daughter really is his wife.”

“So what? A man who would leave his wife alone at home and have an affair with another woman would want nothing more than for his wife to die so that he could marry his mistress.”

“That’s not true, Mr. Wolfe. It’s not what you think!”

Felix tried his best to explain. “My daughter and her husband love each other very much. All the Sallows love my daughter. Men sometimes have to put on a show for work. After all, the Sallows are a prominent family. They won’t abandon my daughter.”

Seeing that Puck didn’t say anything, Felix continued, “As long as you have my daughter in your hands, Nicholas Sallow will definitely give you money. He’ll even give you 1.4 million, let alone 140 thousand. I’m begging you, Mr. Wolfe. Please have mercy on me just this once!”

Puck frowned as he looked at the ceiling.

He seemed to be deep in thought. After three minutes, he released Felix’s collar and personally smoothed out the wrinkles.

“Listen carefully-I can call it even between us. My only request is that you give her to me.”

Felix was overjoyed upon hearing that. “Yes, of course, Mr. Wolfe. That’s great. You have to mean it, okay? You can’t ask me for 140 grand or get people to harm me.”

“Of course. I’m a man of my word.”

“Alright, then. I’ll leave her to you. I’ll get going, Mr. Wolfe.”

“Sure. Go on.”

Once Felix left, Puck’s men looked at Puck. “Are you sure this is fine, Mr. Wolfe? Kidnapping is a serious crime.”

Puck smirked coldly. “Remember this-if it works, we’ll make a huge profit. If it fails, the kidnapping and blackmail have nothing to do with us. It’s that woman’s father who greedily kidnapped his own daughter to ask his son-in-law for money.”

“Think about it. Won’t this news cause a stir if it

gets

out?”

“I see. Hahaha! You’re so smart, Mr. Wolfe. You’ve got the best mind ever.”

Puck smacked the guy on the head. “You should learn a thing or two, then. Don’t be such a fool.”

“Yes, of course, Mr. Wolfe.”

As soon as Nicholas returned to the room, he sensed something was wrong before even picking up his phone.

He looked at Madelline, who was lying on the hospital bed, with an icy expression. “Did you touch my phone?”

“What? I didn’t.” Naturally, Madelline refused to admit it.

Nicholas picked up his phone and checked it carefully.

Madelline’s heart raced with fear.

Thankfully, she had deleted the call record.

That way, even if he suspected her, he couldn’t accuse her of anything without proof.

Just when Nicholas failed to find anything suspicious, and Madelline let her guard down, he said, “Don’t try to lie to me, Madelline. I’m going to ask you one more time-did you touch my phone?”

Since there was no evidence, Madelline denied it even more firmly.

Nicholas furrowed his brows. His voice washed over Madelline like a bucket of cold water..

“Madelline, I gave you two chances, but you refused to tell the truth. I’m extremely disappointed in you.”

Madelline bit her lip and made a pitiful expression.

However, that only made Nicholas even more irritated.

All he could think about right now was Nancy.

Ever since the call yesterday, it had been over twelve hours since they last spoke.

Ever since they got back together, they had never gone this long without contacting each other, except when he was unconscious.

Not only did she not call him, but she didn’t even send a text.

“I’m not lying, Nicholas. I was resting on the bed the whole time.”

Nicholas knew that if he didn’t present the evidence, Madelline wouldn’t admit to anything.
