Chapter 29 Dear Nicholas, I Love You 

Nancy was taken aback. She didn’t expect that Grandpa had already known about Madelline’s 

return. 

“Grandpa, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hide it from you intentionally.” 

“I knew that you didn’t want to make me worry, but now that she’s back, have you thought about what to do?” 

What should she do? 

She also wanted to ask herself, what else could she do now? 

In fact, from the moment Madelline returned, and Nicholas mentioned divorce, she’s done everything she could. 

She tried to convince him to stay. 

But none of which worked. 

Once a man decided on divorce, no force on earth could change his mind. 

She was helpless. 

And she had no other way. 

Nancy raised her head, her lips parting, and was about to tell Grandpa, “It’s not necessary. I’ve decided to break up amicably with Nicholas and get a divorce.” 

However, when she looked at Grandpa’s hair and aged face, all her words got stuck in her throat, and she had no idea how to start. 

“Darling, what are you thinking? If you need my help, you must tell me immediately.” 

“Two years ago, I was able to drive that woman away. Two years later, I can still do it again.” 

“No.” Nancy refused without hesitation. 

If Madelline left, Nicholas would surely think that it was her who provoked Grandpa to do it. 

It was her cunning and tears in front of Grandpa that made Grandpa drive Madelline away. 

In that case, she wouldn’t be able to explain herself.

Most importantly, she didn’t want to leave behind an image of herself as a scheming, jealous. woman in Nicholas’ heart. 

“Grandpa, I’m sorry, but I want to handle the matter between Nicholas and me by myself. 

Grandpa sighed and nodded, “Alright, I promise. But you also need to promise me that you will let me know if you ever need my help.” 

“Yes, you need not worry, Grandpa. I will definitely come to find you if I need anything” 

Nicholas didn’t come back for the whole day. 

In the evening, just after Nancy finished bathing, she heard a sound on the door. 

She thought it was him returning, so she hurriedly went to open the door, but it was actually Sarah, her mother-in-law. 

“Mom, do you have anything I can help?” 

“Nicholas hasn’t come back yet, right?” Sarah asked. 

“Yeah, he just called me a while ago, saying there’s a lot of work at the company, so that he might be back later.” 

Nancy’s answer obviously couldn’t hide the truth from Sarah. 

“You guys argued?” She asked again. 

Nancy knew she couldn’t keep it from her, so she nodded, “Yes, there was a bit of disagreement, but Mom, you don’t need to worry. We’ll work it out.” 

“Regarding what happened yesterday, I want to apologize to you. I wanted to bring you two closer and help you get pregnant sooner. I didn’t expect my good intentions to backfire and make you 

both distant.” 

As soon as Sarah said that, Nancy immediately understood that she was referring to the drugged soup incident last night. 

“Mom, I know you meant well. How could I blame you?” 

After sending Sarah away. Nancy lay in her bed. 

She took a glance at her phone. It was already 10 o’clock. 

He hadn’t come back yet.

She waited for a full two hours, and it was already midnight. Nicholas still hadn’t come back yet. 

Nancy picked up her phone and scrolled through her friend’s social media posts. She thought she had seen something by mistake. 

She refreshed the page multiple times. 

The post was still clearly displayed in front of her eyes. 

Madelline had posted two photos of herself, both with a gentle and alluring smile. The last photo showed a man’s hand. 

But looking at it, Nancy knew it was Nicholas’ hand right away. 

He has long fingers, white and clean; how could she not know? 

More importantly, the ring he’s wearing is their wedding ring. 

It’s the ring Nancy personally placed on his finger. 

She couldn’t have been mistaken. 

But this wasn’t the one that hurt her the most. 

What hurt the most was the affectionate caption under Madelline’s photo. 

She wrote, “If a man who never eats supper is willing to accompany you for supper, break all his principles for you, wait for you to be his bride unconditionally, I can’t think of a more beautiful and eternal commitment. Dearest Nicholas, I love you.” 

Under the post was a big red heart. 

Not anyone else. 

It was Nicholas who had liked the post. 

Nancy turned off her phone, switched off the light, and crawled under the blanket. 

The following day. Nancy packed her luggage and told Grandpa, her father-in-law, and her mother-in-law that she wanted to return home. 

She could tell that Grandpa was very reluctant to see her leave. 

Actually, she was reluctant, too. 

But her relationship with Nicholas had been horrible in the past two days

But as time passed, she couldn’t hide it anymore. 

After having breakfast, Nancy rode in the car and left. 

Reaching the city center, she told the driver, “You can drop me off here.” 

“Mrs. Sallow, Mr. Jacob Sallow asked me to send you safely back to your home.” 

“Someone will pick me up, don’t worry!” 

After speaking, Nancy left the car.
