Seven Days Seven Nights (Nicholas and Nancy) novel Chapter 48

Chapter 48 You Won’t Be Happy Together

Madelline shook her head while biting her lip.

Tears rolled down her cheeks, and she gazed at Nicholas, looking pitiful and helpless.

That expression could make any man feel sympathetic and guilty.

“I’m sorry, Madelline. It is my fault.”

“Since you know it’s your fault, why do you want to break up? I need to know the reason. I won’t accept this without explanation

Nicholas looked at her, feeling guilty in his heart.

Madeline wiped away her tears and grabbed Nicholas’ hand. “Please tell me the reason, okay? I have the right to know. It’s something I should know.”

“Do you really have to know it?”

“Yes, I have to.”

With a sigh, Nicholas reluctantly began, “Grandpa passed away. Though it was due to liver cancer, if it weren’t for my insistence on getting a divorce that day, defying him, he wouldn’t have left us.”

“Madelline, I’ve already let you and Grandpa down. Now, Nancy is my wife. I can’t let her down. either.

“No.” Madelline shook her head frantically. “Nicholas, it’s not like that.”

“Grandpa’s passing wasn’t your fault. You shouldn’t burden yourself with all the responsibility. It hurts me to see you like this. Your obligation lies with Nancy, but there’s no love between you guys. Forcing a marriage like this won’t result in happiness.”

“I’m the one you love and want to spend your life with. Nicholas, I’m begging you, let’s not part ways.”

Madelline cried even harder.

Her tears fell like broken pearls.

Her eyes were even more red and swollen from crying.

Nicholas couldn’t hold back and reached out to completely wipe away the tears on her face. “Madelline, stop it. I’ve made up my mind.”

“You can leave the country, as before, so you never have to see me again. You can also stay here,

but I am only Nancy’s husband from now on and have nothing to do with you.”

“Does it have to be like this?” Madelline desperately said, “No, I don’t want this.”

“I don’t want to leave you, and I don’t want to be just a stranger to you.”

“I’ve finished my words. Nancy is still waiting for me at home, so I’ll

first.

Nicholas got up and left without a second thought.

Suddenly, there was a loud noise from behind.

“Ouch… Ah, it’s burning! It hurts so much.”

After that, there came the pitiful voice of Madelline

That’s right, she had spilt the coffee in front of her.

And she had spilt it by herself.

The purpose was simple. Of course, it was to keep Nicholas by her side.

Suppressing the worry in his heart, Nicholas continued walking forward.

Madelline couldn’t believe it. She raised her voice and said, “It hurts, Nicholas! I’m in so much pain. Are you going to ignore me?”

“Are you going to leave me here all alone?”

Listening to her distressed cries, Nicholas couldn’t bring himself to be heartless after all.

He turned around and walked up to Madelline.

Seeing him approach, Madelline leapt with joy. She seized the opportunity to hug Nicholas tightly.

“Nicholas, please don’t go.”

“I love you, and I love you so much. After all these years, you’re the only man I’ve ever loved. Are you going to leave me and let me marry another man?”

“I know you feel guilty, and I understand how hard it is for you and your self-blame, but guilt isn’t love. There’s no love for Nancy in your heart.”

Nicholas’ voice was low and serious as he said, “Madelline, let me go.”

“No, I won’t let go. Nicholas, I love you and will never let you go for the rest of my life.

Madelline hugged his waist tightly and cried like a tearful person.

“I’ve just made it clear that Nancy is my wife, and I won’t allow you to disparage her in any way.”

His solid, slender fingers carefully separated Madelline’s clenched grip as he spoke, one finger at a

time.

Of course, Madelline was unwilling to let go.

But how could her strength compare to Nicholas?

Her hands wholly loosened from Nicholas’ waist in just a few minutes.

This time, Nicholas didn’t even glance at her and continued to walk ahead without looking back.

Madelline wheeled herself madly, trying to catch up.

Suddenly, her wheelchair stopped.

She looked up and saw a stunning woman wearing sunglasses and black jeans, with an incredibly, hot figure blocking the wheels of her wheelchair.

“Could you please move?” Madelline demanded with an assertive tone.

“Sorry, but I can’t.”

“You must be crazy! Why are you blocking me?”

Linda turned to the side, her gaze directed at Nicholas and Nancy. “Do you see that? They are at real married couple, legally recognized with a marriage certificate. You’re just a clown!”

“Ms. Madelline, it’s better for humans to have self-awareness. Persistent pursuit like this will only make you look valueless.”

Seeing the scene before her, Madelline clenched her fists and bit her lip hard.

Nancy.

It was her.

It was all because of her.

If not for her, she and Nicholas would have lived happily together, perhaps even with many children by now.

Seeing Nancy there, Nicholas was quite surprised.

Linda came back from filming and invited me for coffee here. I didn’t expect to run into you.
