“Jenny, what’s the deal? You’re knocked up?” 

Director Harriet snapped to attention, frowning and fixing Jenny with a stern look. 

If Jenny was preggers and sneaking into the crew, wouldn’t that just throw a wrench in the works? 

Scoring the supporting actress gig hadn’t been a walk in the park for Jenny, and if she lost it over this, what then? 

She immediately shook her head in a panic at Director Harriet. 

Yolanda gave Jenny a nudge and chimed in to save the day, “Director Harriet, I’m in the loop here, Jenny had a miscarriage!” 

Jenny quickly echoed, “Yeah, yeah, I had a miscarriage for my career!” 

But Remington just let out a snort of derision, “Miscarriage? When? At which hospital?” 

His gaze was piercing, and Jenny nearly burst into tears under the scrutiny, stubbornly retorting. 

“I don’t know you, it’s my personal business, why the hell should I tell you?” 

Right then, the producer recognized Remington and quickly pulled Jenny aside. 

“Jenny! How can you talk to Mr. Dashiell like that? You answer whatever Mr. Dashiell asks you, and make it snappy!” 

If the crew ticked off Remington, they might as well forget about starting the shoot – they’d be done for right there. 

The producer hurriedly grabbed a glass of booze and started groveling and apologizing to Remington. 

Director Harriet also quickly caught on and stood up in a fluster. 

In a flash, everyone in the VIP room was on their feet, tripping over themselves to offer compliments and apologies. 

Remington, stone–faced, ignored them all, his gaze still locked on Jenny. 

And everyone else’s eyes followed suit, piling the pressure on Jenny. 

She had covered for Lizetta at the prenatal checkup before and had seen Remington, finding him familiar. 

But she hadn’t expected to have crossed paths with such a big shot. 

Tears welled up in her eyes, her face pale as a ghost, as she looked desperately at Yolanda for help. 

At this point, Yolanda couldn’t leave Jenny out to dry. 

She stepped forward, shielding Jenny, and addressed Remington. 

“Mr. Dashiell, let’s talk outside. Whatever you want to know, ask me, it’s got nothing to do with Jenny!” Remington knew Yolanda’s temper, pressuring Jenny was just to get under Yolanda’s skin. 

His cold gaze finally shifted to Yolanda. 

“Ms. Yolanda, I hope you won’t let me down, or anyone in Zion City who dares to play me for a fool will pay

At these words, Jenny’s tears spilled over, terrified, she tugged at Yolanda’s sleeve. 

Yolanda’s face turned pale, but she gave Jenny a reassuring look, nodded, and followed Remington out. 

Their departure left the room silent as the grave. 

Cassius lagged behind, waving his hand at the visibly shaken Director Harriet and the rest, saying, 

“No worries, it’s just a private matter with Mr. Dashiell, carry on.” 

After he spoke, he too exited. 

Yolanda followed Remington to another VIP room. He looked unfazed, but the aura around him said otherwise.
