Chapter 314
Lizetta shot Remington an annoyed glare, her words defiant despite her flushed face. “Me, call out? You must’ve heard wrong.”
Just moments before, they were nestled together, listening to the heartbeat of their unborn child. Their hands caressed Joy, their soon–to–be baby, in an embrace that felt like the epitome of bliss, a perfect little family moment.
Caught up in the moment, Lizetta couldn’t help but call out without even realizing it.
Now, under Remington’s deep gaze, teasing her, Lizetta found herself too embarrassed to make another sound.
But Remington wasn’t about to let her off that easily, his presence closing in.
“If you won’t call out, I’ll just have to kiss you.”
Lizetta’s cheeks burned hotter, but a sly spark danced in her bright eyes. She tilted her head up, her lips meeting his in a preemptive strike.
Remington paused, taken aback, but then his breathing became erratic, and he took control of the kiss, deepening it.
They were lost in each other’s embrace under the warm winter sun, Lizetta with her eyes closed, never feeling as close to him as she did at that moment.
She felt their hearts drawing nearer; she didn’t mind if Remington didn’t love her now because she believed that eventually, he would love her just as much she loved him, even if it was just a bit less.
But Lizetta had forgotten that life often has its own plans, and things rarely go smoothly.
Remington was injured, having not slept all night, and after a while, Lizetta pushed him away, urging him to
rest.
He tightened his arms around her and quickly fell asleep, still holding onto Lizetta.
Only when he was deeply asleep did Lizetta gently extricate herself from his grasp and get off the hospital bed.
She bent down and gently lifted Remington’s hospital gown, seeing the thick bandages wrapped around his waist, her eyes welling up with tears. The sight of those bandages meant his injuries were severe.
Like Joseph, Remington had a rare blood type, and losing so much blood without a timely transfusion was dangerous.
His complexion was off, his lips pale.
Lizetta kissed Remington’s cheek tenderly before quietly leaving the room.
Yolanda must be worried sick; Lizetta needed to get in touch with her.
Downstairs, Lizetta dialed her phone, and Yolanda picked up immediately, her voice laced with urgency. “Liz, are you okay? Did badass Remington do anything to you?”
She was almost out of her mind with worry. The day Remington found out Lizetta was pregnant, he left with an intimidating aura. Since then, Yolanda hadn’t been able to contact Lizetta, only knowing she was taken by Remington.

Chapter 314
Yolanda had asked Cassius for help, but that good–for–nothing had exploited her concern, giving nothing useful in return. She even started to doubt if Cassius and Remington were really friends.
“Liz, I’m fine.” Lizetta briefly explained the past couple of days to Yolanda, who also recounted their encounter with Remington.
“So, he didn’t trouble you guys? Jenny is okay, right?*

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
