The next moment, Yolanda acted as if she hadn't seen him at all, retracting her gaze and straightening Jerome's suit collar, as if urging him. Jerome then also looked away, wrapping his arm around Yolanda's shoulder, personally guiding her into the passenger seat. Afterward, he walked around the car, took his place behind the wheel, and as the vehicle approached, the wrought iron gate slowly swung open.
Cassius stood in front of the gate, blocking the way, his gaze burning with anger as he stared into the car at Yolanda. His expression was that of a husband who had caught his wife in the act, and Yolanda rolled down the window, extending her hand in a wave. Seeing she obviously wanted to speak with him, Cassius's handsome face relaxed slightly, thinking that if this woman could explain everything clearly and say some nice things, he wasn't beyond forgiving her. He stepped towards the passenger side, intending to pull open the door and drag Yolanda out.
A streak of light flew out from inside the car, striking Cassius in the face. Before Cassius could see what it was, the slowly departing car suddenly accelerated, speeding away and leaving Cassius far behind.
"Yolanda!" Cassius stared at the receding taillights, calling out in a deep voice. Yolanda, with her hand resting on the car window, flipped him off in a defiant gesture before finally withdrawing her hand.
When the car had disappeared, an infuriated Cassius looked down to see a platinum diamond bracelet thrown at his feet. It was the only gift he had ever given Yolanda, discarded as if it were nothing, lying at his feet. Damn woman! Cassius's forehead veins throbbed as he stepped on the bracelet, grinding it underfoot in frustration before turning to leave.
Forty minutes later, Cassius, seething with anger, barged into Remington's office. "Remi, you need to control your ex-wife. If she wants to get back at you, fine, but why is she taking it out on me? Why is she introducing all sorts of sketchy guys to Yolanda?"
Remington looked up from the documents in front of him, his gaze cold. Cedric stood to the side, looking at Cassius as if he were an idiot. Mr. Sterling really had some nerve. If their boss could control his ex-wife, would he be sitting here, analyzing a rival's information?

The readers' comments on the novel: Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington)
Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
