"Yoli went on a perfectly ordinary date, and next thing we know, you’ve got her drunk and brought her here. You claim you didn’t do anything to her, yet she beat you up and then jumped out of a window? Does that sound logical to you?" Lizetta narrowed her eyes, scrutinizing Cassius.
She wasn’t buying Cassius’s story for a second. He was definitely trouble.
Cassius, on the other hand, was furious. He pointed to the bump on his forehead. "I’ve got the bruises to prove it! Look at my head, and there are more on my body!"
With that, he abruptly stood up and tore open his shirt. Earlier, in the room, Yolanda had kicked him hard in the chest, making him fall off the bed and hit his head.
"Who do you think you are, flashing around like that?" But just as Cassius tugged open his shirt, a pillow came flying at him.
It was Remington, who had rushed past and covered Lizetta’s eyes, pulling her into his arms. "Don't look, it’ll hurt your eyes," he said playfully.
Lizetta found herself enveloped in Remington's familiar scent. He had jumped into the pool to save someone earlier and hadn't had time to change. His clothes were still damp, and through them, she could feel the warmth of his chest. Her breath caught for a moment.
"I… I didn’t see anything," she mumbled.
Remington ran a hand through Lizetta’s hair, a smile playing at his lips, and whispered in her ear, "Good girl."
Cassius had stood too quickly. As he fumbled with his robe, Remington's nudge sent him sprawling back onto the couch, causing his bruised chest to throb painfully.
Glaring at Remington, Cassius felt like he’d just been hit with a ton of bricks. Especially when compared to Remington’s current display of affection, Cassius felt like kicking them both out of his villa.
But he didn’t dare. Under the weight of Remington’s warning glare, Cassius grudgingly pulled his robe closed, tying it tightly around him.
"Remi, I didn’t do anything to Yolanda, but my face—look at this handprint! She left it there. Doesn’t she owe me an apology?"
Lizetta looked at Cassius and huffed. "I’m not apologizing."
Regardless of whether Cassius had done anything to Yolanda, Lizetta had long wanted to give him a piece of her mind for his past behavior toward her.
Remington nodded in agreement. "Yeah, no apology."
"Remi!" Cassius was incredulous, while Remington simply raised an eyebrow at him.

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
