Lizetta frowned and pressed her ear against the bathroom door, straining to hear any sounds.
Outside, it was eerily quiet—not a single noise.
Recalling Tina mentioning that Remington had been called away by Nathan for a conversation and that no one would come in, Lizetta quickly wrapped herself in a bath towel and opened the door, hurrying towards the walk-in closet.
Fortunately, the bedroom was empty.
Lizetta pulled open a drawer, grabbed some lingerie, and breathed a sigh of relief, preparing to head back to the bathroom. But as she turned around, she heard footsteps and the sound of a man talking on the phone outside the dressing room.
"Send me the project files again after you've recompiled them. Bye."
It was Remington's deep and familiar voice, coming closer.
Lizetta glanced down at herself, wrapped only in a towel, and felt a wave of panic.
Her mind went blank, but her body reacted faster than her thoughts. She opened a wardrobe and dove inside, closing the door behind her.
The footsteps quickly approached the wardrobe, and Lizetta heard two thuds.
It must have been Remington placing his phone and watch on the display shelf in the middle.
Then came the rustling sound of clothing being removed.
Lizetta, tucked inside the wardrobe, dared not breathe. She thought she must have lost her mind to hide like this.
If she were found now, it would be even more embarrassing.
She closed her eyes and prayed for Remington to leave quickly, but it seemed her prayers went unanswered.
Instead of leaving, the footsteps stopped right outside her wardrobe door and stood still.
With only a door between them, Lizetta held her breath nervously. Her cheeks flushed red from the lack of air, and she felt suffocated.
She was on the verge of tears from her own stupidity when Remington moved, his foot kicking the wardrobe door.
In a panic, Lizetta raised her hand to cover her mouth, but the movement was too sudden, causing her elbow to thud against the door.

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
