Andrea shook her head in disbelief, as if Lizetta had truly bitten the hand that fed her.
Lizetta, with a mocking smile, retorted, "So, just because Lilian says there's been no progress, it means there's been no progress? Mrs. Laura sure seems awfully interested in my project. Calling Lilian in first thing in the morning to inquire about it, or was Lilian just planted by Mrs. Laura to keep tabs on me, reporting every little detail?"
Laura's face soured, her voice dropping low, "As a department manager, it's only natural for me to be concerned about the progress of projects below me. Your baseless speculations are really quite unpleasant."
Andrea interjected with a laugh, "Mrs. Laura, Liz is just lashing out because her project tanked. Don't take it personally.
You might not be aware, but Liz and the CEO of Starlight Group go way back. I thought this project would be a piece of cake for Liz, but it turns out Mr. Dashiell didn't show any favoritism, handing the project over to Glory Media instead.
If I'm not mistaken, Liz, you've got quite a history with Ms. West from Glory Media, right? Ah, I can understand why you're upset and frustrated."
Andrea's face was the picture of sympathy as she reached out to Lizetta in a feigned attempt at comfort, though her eyes gleamed with schadenfreude. Lizetta had taken everything that was hers.
Her identity as Ms. Madden, over twenty years of glory, a life of privilege, the adoration of Nelson and Jerome.
If it weren't for Lizetta, all that would have remained hers forever.
Thankfully, her parents still considered their years of upbringing, allowing her to return as an adopted daughter.
But being an adopted daughter, recognized only by Eartha and Conrad West, paled in comparison to her days as Ms. Madden.
Watching Lizetta, Andrea couldn't help but wish she had perished outside.

The readers' comments on the novel: Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington)
Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
