The Secret Pregnancy of the Billionaire’s Ex–Wife
Chapter 176: What Difference Does Your Apology Make Now?
Sean POV
“Are you done with your questions?” Angela asked, adjusting the hospital blanket with her good hand. “Can you stop bothering me and my children from now on?”
I turned to face her, disbelief washing over me.
“Even after learning about the text message misunderstanding, you still want me out of your life? Out of our children’s lives?”
Angela met my gaze steadily. “Do you remember five years ago, when Christina had just returned, and you asked me to bring you an
umbrella?”
The memory of that rainy day came back, but I was confused by her emphasis on it.
“You asked me to bring your umbrella to the club,” Angela continued, her voice tight with controlled emotion,
“Before I came to deliver that umbrella to you, I had just received confirmation of my pregnancy from the medical center.I rushed there, eager to tell you
Instead, I found you laughing with Christina, completely engrossed in her. You barely acknowledged my presence. You even lied to me, telling me to go home first, refusing to even come out to see me properly!”
“It was my fault,” I admitted, my voice strained with regret. “I was afraid that if you saw Christina, you would misunderstand our relationship. But if I had known you were pregnant, I would have come out to see you immediately! Why didn’t you tell me directly that you were pregnant?”
“Even the club doorman kept me outside, telling me that Christina was your wife!” Angela’s voice trembled with subdued anger.
“That night when you came home, I was planning to tell you about my pregnancy, but instead you immediately asked for a divorce! Tell me, how was I supposed to tell you then? I even caught a high fever from being in the rain that day, and nearly had a miscarriage!”
My body went cold. I felt as if I’d been plunged into an endless abyss
Five years lost–five years I could have watched my children grow, could have been there for their first steps, first words. But I had destroyed all those opportunities with my own hands.
Looking back now, all her strange behaviors made perfect sense–her reluctance to go to the hospital, refusing medication, suddenly avoiding seafood…
All these actions had logical explanations now. There had been so many signs in our daily life, and I had completely overlooked
them all!
I should have realized it sooner…
“Angela, I’m sorry,” I whispered, my voice breaking. “If I had known-
“What difference does your apology make now?” she interrupted. “Five years have passed, Sean. The damage is done.”
She took a deep breath before continuing. “If you truly want children, the Shaw family can have new additions. Please, leave Aria, Ethan, and me alone.”
“You’re asking the impossible,” I replied, my voice low and intense. How can I stand by and watch you and our children fall into

e,” she clarified, her voice cool and measured. I simply want to raise my children in peace
Relief washed through me at her words, though I fought to keep my expression neutral. She wasn’t planning to be with Christopher or anyone else.
“If that’s the case,” I pressed, “why not let me help care for them? We could co–parent. No matter what, you can’t deny that I’m their biological father.”
She laughed bitterly. “It’s just DNA, Sean.”
I studied her for a long moment, considering my options carefully. A direct confrontation would only push her further away. I needed to be strategic.
“Fine. I’ll agree to your terms,” I conceded, watching her eyes narrow with suspicion. “But right now, your priority should be recovering from your injuries.”
I had no intention of giving up. I’d just need to find another approach.

In the evening, I handled Angela’s discharge paperwork and brought her and the children home.
“This apartment is too small for the children,” I remarked as I entered Angela’s home. The twins followed behind me while the nanny looked on, startled.
Angela maintained her composure but asked the nanny to take the children

their room. Once they were gone, she confronted me.
“I’m only offering suggestions,” I replied. “You need a better living space for the children.”
“I can’t afford it,” she said curtly.
“I can. Why did you return all your Shaw Group shares? You clearly need the money.”
“I want nothing from you,” she insisted.
I softened my tone. “Fine. But I’m still going to have plans drawn up for a new home. The children deserve better.”
Her patience broke. “Sean, what are you trying to accomplish?”
“Making amends without fighting for custody,” I said gently. “You can refuse my
offer, but would the children?”
Before she could argue, I added, “I’ll have designs drafted. We won’t build until you approve.”
Exhaustion crossed her face. “Please leave.”
Inodded and walked out, knowing I’d planted the seed. Sometimes retreat was the best strategy.
