The Secret Pregnancy of the Billionaire’s Ex–Wife
Chapter 215: Parting Again
Angela POV
Two days had passed, and I still hadn’t received any information about David.
My mind drifted to all the moments over the past five years when David had been there for me:
“Ms. Wilson, Mr. Blake asked me to pick you up. When will you be leaving work?”
“Ms. Wilson, I bought some new picture books for the children. When would be convenient for me to drop them off?”
“Ms. Wilson, there’s a severe weather warning today. Remember to take an umbrella when you go out, and the temperature will drop, so please dress warmly.”
My eyes welled up at these memories.
Though David always claimed he was following Christopher’s instructions, he had genuinely helped me in countless ways. Especially during our last encounter–if not for him, I might still be held captive on that Mediterranean island.
Thomas noticed my reddened eyes and immediately grew concerned.
“Ms. Wilson, please don’t worry too much,” he said hastily. “If Mr. Chen dared to help you escape the island, it means he was prepared for the consequences. He knew what he might face afterward, so you shouldn’t-”
His voice gradually faded as he realized he might be making things worse. An uncomfortable silence filled the room.
I felt Sean’s eyes on me, watching as I grieved for someone else. I could sense the concern in his gaze. His hand tightened then relaxed, and finally, he gently consoled me:
“Don’t worry too much. Sometimes no news is good news–at least it’s not bad news, right?”
Thomas nodded. “Mr. Shaw is right. Please don’t worry, Ms. Wilson. We’re doing everything possible to locate Mr. Chen.”
Despite their reassurances, my mood remained somber.
“Mommy, what’s wrong?”
I snapped back to reality at the sound of two small voices behind me Aria and Ethan were looking at me with concern in their eyes.
“Aria, Ethan,” I acknowledged them softly.
The children came to my side and nestled against me.
“Mommy, you still seem unhappy these days,” Ethan observed quietly

you, haven’t I?”
Aria squeezed beside me and whispered, Mommy, will we never see Uncle Blake again?”
I lowered my gaze to Aria nestled beside me, unsure how to answer such a sensitive question.

Ethan, more perceptive than Iffs sister, quickly intervened when he heard her ask again: “Arla, let’s not ask Mommy these questions
anymore.
He tried to pull her away, but I stopped them both.
“You’re both Mommy’s treasures. If you want to know something, just ask directly. Mommy can answer anything. Ethan, I know you’re always thinking of Mommy, but you’re still just a child. You don’t need to constantly worry about me, understand?*
“Mommy…” Ethan started.
“It’s okay,” I gently pinched both their cheeks and softly answered their question. “About what you just asked, Mommy will give you an official answer. Whether we’ll see Uncle Christopher again, I’m not really sure, but what I can tell you now is that Uncle Christopher is sick. Maybe when he gets better, you might see him again.”
Aria innocently asked, “Then Mommy, when will Uncle Blake get better?”
The question put me in a difficult position, but I answered anyway: That, Mommy isn’t sure about either, but I believe he will
recover.”
In my heart, I thought that life always needs some hope.
I privately wished that Christopher’s psychological issues could be treated soon, allowing everyone’s lives to return to normal.
***
In the afternoon, I received news that our passports and travel documents were ready.
Tickets could be purchased at any time–we could prepare to return to New York.
Yet I still had no news about David Chen, and Christopher had been injured in the confrontation.
Leaving Europe with these unresolved issues left me feeling uneasy and guilty.
Sean perceived my inner conflict and reassured me: “You and the children should return to New York first. I’ll stay here to handle things. The children need to get back to school soon.”
“You’re staying?” I frowned and asked, “What for? Isn’t everything here mostly resolved?”
“I promised you I’d rescue David, and I intend to keep that promise.
I knew Sean had been injured in his confrontation with Christopher, yet he was still doing all this for me, which made me feel
incredibly guilty.
Sean continued, “Go on, I’ll arrange a flight for you tonight. Thomas will accompany you back to New York, and he’ll protect you until I return. Don’t go back to your previous apartment either–move to the Park Avenue apartment. Thomas will arrange 24–hour security to ensure your safety.”
Though Sean wouldn’t be returning with us, he had already arranged everything. As I listened to him speak, my discomfort grew.
I couldn’t help biting my lower lip and asking, “Can’t the matters here be handled by others from the company?*
“If I leave it to others and something goes wrong, what then? If not for Mr. Chen, it might have taken me much longer to find you
all.”
Seeing I wanted to say more, Sean gently wrapped his arm around my waist. “Don’t overthink this. If I’ve chosen to stay, it means
I’m confident I can handle it.”
