Chapter 350
This statement hit Westin’s sore spot once again.
Gone was his usual elegance and composure. Westin looked at Paityn with a pale look, trembling as he said, “Paityn, we used to love each other so much. I used all my connections and resources to support you, helping you rise to fame again. Is this how you want to treat me?”
Paityn replied calmly, “Is it so difficult for the Pittman family to agree to a divorce, return my money, and stop targeting Josie?
“Will you all die if you leave my biological daughter alone?”
After a few seconds of silence, Westin said, “How about this? Let’s call Mom and Dad over to discuss it.”
Paityn ignored his suggestion and pulled out a thick stack of printed copies from her bag, tossing it in his face. “I’ve printed out your conversations with those women and male singers. Show them to your parents.
“If you refuse my two conditions, I will make this information public, and we will all suffer the consequences.”
After saying this, Paityn grabbed her phone and turned to leave.
That night, Athena received a call from Paityn..
Paityn asked, trembling, “Is Josie fine?”
Athena didn’t ignore her out of spite. She simply said indifferently, “I’ll start the video, you can see for yourself.”
Soon, Paityn saw Josie on the screen.
Josie was snuggled tightly in Claire’s arms, wrapping her arms around Claire’s neck, her voice soft and sweet as she said, “Mommy, Mommy, I want to sleep with you tonight.”
Athena said, “Josie is afraid that if she falls asleep, her mom will disappear.”
Paityn’s heart ached at this.
Back then, she always left when Alina fell asleep.
Claire kissed Josie’s cheek and held a strawberry to her lips, saying, “Okay, I will sleep with you tonight. Let’s go to Josie’s
room.”
Josie eagerly ate the strawberry and then picked up another large one, smiling sweetly, “The strawberry is so sweet. Mommy, you eat it.”
“You’re so adorable,” Claire said, her heart softening. She swallowed the strawberry in one bite, her cheek pressed against Josie’s as Claire showered her with kisses. “There’s no little girl in this world cuter than Josie.”
“Then you must never get rid of me, Okay?” Josie said earnestly. I will always be good. You have to keep me forever.”
Claire pressed her forehead against Josie’s, saying gently yet firmly, “No matter what you will become, fat or short, obedient or disobedient, I will always love you and stay with you.”
Josie covered her eyes and giggled, “I won’t turn fat or short.”
Athena turned off the video and asked Paityn, “Is there anything else you want to know?”
On the other end of the line, Paityn was in tears, holding back her sobs. “Josie is really happy. Thank you for taking such
good care of her. The Pittman family will no longer bother you, and I won’t fight for custody of Josie. From now on, she’s in your hands.”
After hanging up, she took a deep breath, picked up her suitcase filled with personal belongings, and left the room, walking briskly toward the door.
Athena was momentarily stunned and thought, ‘Why did Paityn and the Pittman family just let Josie go?”
The Donovan family had been preparing for the lawsuit for days, with stacks of evidence and documents piled up to over 6 inches high. Ryan had been ready to take on the Pittman family lawyer in court.
But Paityn and the Pittman family gave up.
After staring at her phone screen for several seconds, she muted Josie in the family group chat and recapped Paityn’s phone call.
The group exploded with messages.
Alaric was frantic. [The Pittman family must be trying to lull us into a false sense of security. We need to stay vigilant and not let our guard down.]
Arthur chimed in excitedly: [We have to keep a close eye on Josie. It’s best not to take her out during this time, and if we do, at least two people should watch her. Let’s take Bello along, too.]
The next morning at half past eight, Paityn unexpectedly posted her divorce certificate with Westin on Twitter, accompanied by a simple caption: [The past is dead. Time for a fresh start.]
