She’s Married, Sir (Scarlett and Sebastian) novel Chapter 144

Chapter 144

Dev assisted Scarlett in getting into the car, then got in himself.

Despite his injuries, he grabbed a dry towel and gently dried Scarlett’s hair, which had been soaked by the rain.

His movements were gentle, he was afraid of causing her any pain, his gaze upon her exposed skin caused his expression to

shift.

He had been shielding and protecting Scarlett all her life, yet she was still being cruelly bullied by that bastard Sebastian…

It was not only once; it was for the entire five years. Dey would regret those times, a regret that would stay with him for life.

When Scarlett saw him gazing at her neck in a trance, she instinctively covered her neck and pulled her coat closer around her.

Dev hastily explained. “Scarlett, that’s not what I meant. I just felt like I was being so useless and hurting you…”

“Don’t blame him, Scarlett said, shaking her head, “I did it voluntarily.”

She couldn’t blame Sebastian for signing the agreement.

Dey’s heart trembled, knowing she did it voluntarily instead of being forced made it harder for him.

He said nothing, but kept drying her hair with a dry towel.

Scarlett couldn’t bear to see how gently he was taking care of her, but there were some things that had to be said clearly.

“Liam. I have something to tell you…”

“Can we discuss it when we return?”

Just as she was about to speak, Dev interrupted her mid-sentence.

He seemed to have noticed something, yet he didn’t want to listen to her.

Scarlett glanced at his forehead, which was still bandaged, and suppressed the words she was about to utter.

Dey wanted to take Scarlett back to his villa, but she declined, preferring to return to Susan’s small apartment.

The small apartment provided her a sense of security, allowing her to sleep peacefully.

Dey could only send Scarlett back to the apartment, but he was unwilling to accompany her upstairs; it seemed he was afraid of what she might say to him once they reached the top.

Upon seeing this, Scarlett made no haste to get off the car. “Liam,” she began, “there are certain matters that must be said clearly.”

She didn’t have much time, and her injury this time has made her condition worsened. Without the special medicine Lanny gave her, she would not have had the energy to talk to him this much. Taking advantage of her remaining strength, slie needed to say it clearly.

“Don’t pay any attention to what I said back at Sebastian’s villa. I only said it so I could get away unscathed.”

She was alluding to the words, “My Liam is back now and the misunderstanding has been cleared. I want to go back to him and be with him.”

Dev was very intelligent and intuitively grasped what she was saying. Nevertheless, he was a bit reluctant to accept it. “Why?”

he asked

She had clearly rejected Sebastian, so why was she unwilling to go back to him? Was she still holding a grudge against him?

Scarlett cast a regretful glance at Liam. Tm sorry, Liam. I was the one who wronged you first.”

A hint of frustration appeared on Dev’s handsome face. “You didn’t betray me, you sacrificed yourself for my sake. Later, you were also peeved…”

“At first, I was annoyed, Scarlett said with a faint smile, “but I eventually agreed to do it.”

The fluency of her words, coupled with her willingness and casualness, made Dev suffocate.

It felt as if an immense hand had seized his heart, leaving him unable to draw breath.
