Chapter 146
“Liam, do you know why I came to entertain you? It was Scarlee who forced me. Otherwise, I would never want to see you again.”
“I have completely let go of you. I hope that you will also let me go and return to the capital to properly manage Gatsby Group. That is your home.”
Scarlett finished speaking in one breath and wanted to push the door open to go down, but she was hugged by Dev from behind
He buried his head in her neck and choked out, “Scarlett, I can’t bear to part with you. I can’t imagine my life without you. Please don’t go, okay?”
Dev, being stubborn and paranoid, was not as arrogant and cold as Sebastian; he would not walk away after hearing a few harsh words, so she had to be more ruthless to get him to leave.
Scarlett took a deep breath, turned back, and gritted her teeth. “Mr. Gatsby, listen carefully. I don’t care if you can let go or not. Anyway, I don’t love you anymore. If you pester me now, I will only look down on you. It will only make me sick of you.”
She pushed away the fingers that were clasped around her waist one by one and spoke coldly. “Do you think that after your big brother kicked me twice. I can still make up with you? Let me tell you, that’s not gonna happen. Those two kicks only made me despise you even more. Plus, since you didn’t come back to the city, I had to entertain you all the time. It just made me loathe you even more…”
Dev felt like he had fallen into hell. “Scarlett…”
His face was full of disbelief, as if unable to accept that the once beautiful and charming Scarlett had uttered such heavy words to him.
“Mr. Gatsby, there is a lot of fish out there. Why are you still so hesitant to let go of me? Besides, I no longer have feelings for you.”
Dey looked at Scarlett in a daze, unable to say a word.
Scarlett balled her hands into fists and fought to contain the unbearable emotion in her chest. She grit her teeth and declared, “I don’t want to keep up this charade any longer. Please go back to the city. Don’t come to me again. It’s too irritating.”
She left these words behind and pushed the door open to leave. She didn’t look back, as if she didn’t have any thoughts.
Dev’s blurry vision gradually faded as the figure drifted away. Water vapor stained his eyes, and tears streamed uncontrollably down his face. He snapped back to reality.
He pushed open the car door, unwilling to follow the figure….
Scarlett, sighing deeply, was aware of him following her from behind; yet, she no longer cared and ascended the stairs alone.
She knew Liam’s feelings for her. He had doted on her since she was young and gave her everything. When she grew up, in order to give her a good life, he worked hard to make money. From high school, he had been half-working and half-studying.
Such a good young man must love her so much that he was willing to give everything for her.
All she could offer him in return was her love and less than two months of life.
She once asked Liam what he would do if she died before him.
