Chapter 158
Cosmo, not being allowed to enter the gynecology department, sent the pregnant woman in and then planned to go to the
rest area and wait.
Startled, he spun around to find Scarlett’s eyes filled with sadness. Taken aback, he stumbled back a few steps to steady
himself.
“Scar, Scarlett, why are you here?”
“What about you? Didn’t you go back home to settle your debts? Why are you here now?”
In the face of Scarlett’s questioning, Cosmo was obviously flustered. He probably did not expect that Scarlett would know that he had returned to his hometown.
However, when he thought of how Susan and Scarlett were like sisters, and she naturally told Scarlett everything. Cosmo was a little unhappy.
Having already been married, Susan had divulged all the details of their relationship to Scarlett, making him wary of every move he made.
After a moment of panic, Cosmo quickly regained his composure and calmly explained to Scarlett.
“I returned to my hometown to settle my debts. Coincidentally, I encountered my sister who was unwell, so I quickly took her to the large hospital for a check-up.”
It was reasonable to drive three hours to get to Cosmo’s hometown in the suburbs of A Town.
“Your sister?”
Why had she never heard that Cosmo had a sister?
Cosmo gestured towards the woman seated in the gynecology area, awaiting her turn. “Yeah. She’s expecting, and it’s not convenient for her to attend the wedding. You may not have met her before, but Susan knows. She likely forgot to mention it to you…
Cosmo’s last sentence had a tinge of sarcasm, as if he were derisively implying that their sisterhood was not as strong as it could be.
Upon hearing this, Scarlett no longer asked any questions; her gaze towards Cosmo was no longer as gentle and kind as it
had been.
She spun around and strode towards the elevator. As she stepped in, she quickly darted to a corner, not having closed the door in time, and peered in the direction of the gynecology department.
Cosmo, thinking Scarlett had gone, turned and waved to the pregnant woman in the gynecology section, who then promptly left.
The pregnant woman, acting like a spoiled child, held Cosmo’s hand and shook it. In response, Cosmo raised his hand and scratched her nose, leaving it unknown what she said.
The two were very close, not at all like siblings, but rather like a couple deeply in love for many years.
Scarlett recorded the scene, then sent a message to Susan inquiring about Cosmo’s sister.
Susan quickly responded, “Yeah, he has a sister, but I haven’t encountered her before. What’s the issue?”
Scarlett lowered her head and typed quickly, “Nothing, I encountered her at the hospital. I just happened to observe Cosmo take her to the gynecology department.”
When Susan saw this, her face fell. “Gynecology department? Isn’t he back in his hometown?”
Scarlett explained in Cosmo’s words, and Susan’s expression visibly relaxed.
However, she felt that Cosmo had not informed her of his return, and had even taken his sister to the hospital without her knowledge, making it clear that he did not want her to be aware.
It was so strange that he didn’t dare to let her know.
Susan asked Scarlett, “Which hospital are you in?”
