She’s Married, Sir (Scarlett and Sebastian) novel Chapter 37

Chapter 37

“It appears you still possess some skill.”

James embraced Scarlett’s waist and kissed her on the cheek. “What would you like as a reward, sweetheart?”

Scarlett touched her cheek and spoke without altering her expression, “Mr. Forrest, I don’t desire any recompense. Just let your people vacate my friend’s nuptial chamber.”

“No problem.”

James took out his phone without delay, dialed a call, and instructed his subordinates to withdraw.

Scarlett finally released a sigh of relief, then spun around and presented the glass of wine, which had been drugged, to James. “Mr. Forrest, I’ve brought you this wine especially for you. Care to join me for a drink?”

“Drink?”

James raised his eyebrows slightly, not expecting her to take the initiative and invite him for a drink.

James, taken aback, thought Scarlett had considered it and quickly leaned in close to her ear and inquired, “What? Have you pondered it? Are you okay with me touching you?”

Scarlett was afraid that James would be suspicious, so she kept her composure and said icily, “Mr. Forrest, what are you thinking? I made it clear a while ago that I don’t want to be intimate with you, so I swapped the project with you. How can you not keep your word?”

“Do you still want me to join you for a drink?” James was a bit disappointed when he heard this.

Scarlett frowned and said, “Mr. Forrest, I asked you here for a drink to show my appreciation. You let me go twice without laying a finger on me, and you trusted me so much. I feel I should be courteous and at least buy you a drink.”

Feeling flattered by Scarlett, James suddenly had a grand and glorious image of himself.

“Since that’s the case, I’ll join you for a drink.”

James reached out and accepted the wine glass that she offered.

Perhaps she was so nervous that her fingers trembled.

James could instantly tell that something was amiss with her.

He took it without hesitation, yet he did not drink it; instead, he gave Scarlett a thorough appraisal.

Her disguise was impeccable, her expression remained unchanged, yet her rapidly rising and falling chest gave her away.

“You drink first.”

Scarlett took the wine glass back from James.

Scarlett quickly realized, upon seeing this, that James must have noticed something amiss with the wine, thus allowing her to drink first

Pretending nothing had occurred, she steadied her racing heart, then took the wine glass and took a sip.

After drinking, she explained, “Mr. Forrest, I can’t afford pricey wine, so I requested the hotel to send a bottle with a low cost. The taste isn’t great. If you don’t like it, I’ll ask the front desk to bring another bottle of expensive wine.”

Scarlett, after saying that, turned, walked to the phone, picked it up, and dialed.

James doubts were quickly dispelled by her action, but he stopped her before the front desk could connect.

“Ive never had any inexpensive wine before. It’s nice to switch up the flavor every now and then”

James took the wine glass from her hand once more, licking the rim stained with red wine, and drank it with his head held hugh

As he sipped, he watched Scarlett’s expression closely. Seeing that she seemed normal and at ease, his doubts were completely allayed.

James, who had been in the society for a long time, warily took only a sip of the drink before putting down the glass.

Scarlett was not anticipating James to be so challenging to handle, she felt a bit uneasy

Had he not drunk the wine with enough sleeping pills, she would have been unable to do anything to him.

Fearing that the stranger ludden in the bathroom would see her having killed someone, she was afraid she wouldn’t be able

to escape.

Scarlett found herself in a quandary, not knowing what to do.

James had TIO intention

of letting

her

this time.

He

put lown the wine cup, then grabbed Scarlett’s hand
