Chapter 49
After spending the last night at home, the half-month vacation had come to an end.
She remembered she had to go to YH to hand over her work, so she forced herself to get up.
After having breakfast and taking her medicine, she felt a bit better, yet her face remained very unpleasant.
She applied a heavy layer of makeup to conceal her pale complexion, grabbed her bag, and headed to YH.
“Scarlett, Zoey said as soon as they entered the office, “have you resigned?”
“Yes,” Scarlett nodded, “I quit.”
“Scarlett, why did you suddenly quit? Zoey asked, taking her hand.
Mia was perplexed, “YII’s salary is much higher than other companies, right? You’re making several hundred thousand a year. It’s a shame for you to leave like this.”
“YH’s salary is quite generous,” Scarlett said with a smile, “but I have other plans.”
“Could you have been ‘snatched up’ by Jackman Group?” Mia asked, giving her a thorough once-over.
“Oh my god!”
Zoey opened her big round eyes and exclaimed in astonishment, “Scarlett, the salary that Jackman Group offers is several times higher than that of YH. Are you about to make a meteoric ascent?”
“No, what I said is about life; it has nothing to do with work, Scarlett said, amused by Zoey’s cute appearance.
Upon realizing that she had not been hired by Jackman Group, Mia’s jealousy transformed into gossip. “You don’t have any plans to work?”
Scarlett shook her head and replied nonchalantly, “I’m done working.”
Mia snorted in disbelief, “She’s really landed herself in a wealthy family!”
It was unclear who the elderly man was who had kept her, yet she had no desire to work.
Scarlett glanced at Mia and icily declared, “My ascension to a wealthy family has nothing to do with you, correct?”
Kelly had an unfavorable opinion of Mia due to her habit of gossiping about her and claiming that she was being supported by an elderly man.
She had worked here for so many years and had no idea how many financial masters Mia had disseminated.
In the past, Scarlett would endure and remain silent when she wanted to make money in this company.
Now that she was leaving and Mia still wanted to confront her, she was no longer as good-tempered as before.
Mia choked, taken aback by Scarlett’s boldness in scolding her, something she had not expected from the usually well-mannered and gentle girl.
Scarlett’s presence made her so angry that she wanted to tear off her face right away, but Zoey prevented her from doing so.
“Sister Mia, Scarlett is departing. Let her transfer the work to you first.”
“She can choose whomever she desires. I’m not obligated to accept her offer!”
Mia twisted her waist and, with a fierce glare, sat down in front of her desk.
The loud noise of the chair being moved did nothing to quell her anger. She grabbed the document and slammed it down on the table.
The loud banging startled Zoey, causing her to cover her mouth and whisper to Scarlett, “Sister Kelly asked you to give her the work and said hello, and she agreed. But now she won’t accept it. It’s really hard to do…
