Chapter 118
Millie appeared a bit lost, her hands dangling by her sides and eyes teary.
“Where did you go?” he asked in a hushed tone, his gaze filled with scrutiny.
“I was trying to get some fresh air at the outdoor seating area,” Millie said in a gentle voice, and she seemed to be telling the truth.
“Arthur is fine now,” Winston Informed her.
Millie approached Winston with a look of apology. “I apologize for the inconvenience I’ve caused you.”
“No need to apologize for that,” he frowned, displeased with Millie’s excessive formality toward him. Even though they were planning to divorce, he was still her husband. He couldn’t simply stand by and watch as her grandfather fell ill. In the same way, Millie also followed Selma’s wish and attended her birthday party.
“Regarding the divorce, I-”
“Don’t worry. We can discuss this after Arthur gets better,” Winston cut her off.
Millie’s reddened eyes looked like those of a frightened deer, making her look delicate and pitiful. She bit her lip and lowered her head in shame.
Winston’s heart couldn’t help but be drawn to her. He gently brushed her lips, silently urging her not to bite her lip.
“I didn’t mean to do that. This is unexpected,” Millie explained gently.
Winston was puzzled. “What?”
Millie replied timidly, “I’m afraid you suspect I’m playing tricks because I want to avoid divorcing you.”
Winston was at a loss for words. During their previous divorce proceedings, Selma’s unexpected appearance made him completely misunderstand her. She appeared quite vindictive.
“Got it.” Winston gently tapped Millie’s head. “Go see your grandpa,” he reminded her.
Millie nodded and asked, “Are you coming?”
“No, I have a meeting this afternoon. I’ll come and visit him later, Winston replied gently.
Millie understood and stopped insisting on Winston to stay behind.
He was ready to leave when she unexpectedly grabbed his sleeve. He turned toward her and gazed into her lovely face.
Millie gazed at Winston, her eyes finally devoid of any hostility, and softly uttered, “Thank you.”
Winston’s emotions were remarkably stable compared to hers. He excelled at handling the media reporters, whereas Millie had to work hard to learn that.
He bent his knees to look her in the eyes. Observing her obedience, he inexplicably felt the urge to

tease her. “Is that how you thank me?”
Millie gazed into his captivating eyes and asked, if not, then what should I do?”
Winston stood up straight, put his hands in his pockets, and asked casually, “You can treat me to a meal or something else, right? Isn’t it too insincere to just say thank you?”
“Sure. When Grandpa gets better, I’ll treat you to a meal,” Millie replied.
Winston chuckled. “Okay.”
