Chapter 131
Millie ignored Marvin, but he carried on, “You’re aware that Greer Group and Harrison Corporation are competing for that land near the airport, right?”
Millie glanced at him, wondering why everyone was suddenly talking about this.
Marvin’s hand rested on the windowsill as he casually asked, “Do you know what that asshole plans to do with that land?”
Millie scoffed. “What else do capitalists do besides doing business to make money?”
At that thought, she suddenly narrowed her eyes, a hint of resentment flashing across them.
That scumbag! She couldn’t believe Winston had the nerve to embrace and kiss her. He even went as far as to threaten her. Did he really think she was an easy target?
Marvin was about to answer Millie’s question when she suddenly yelled, “Marvin!”
Marvin jumped in surprise. His lips curled into a wry smile before letting out a sigh. He didn’t know why Millie had to raise her voice. After all, he wasn’t hard of hearing.
“Let’s go to M Base,” Millie ordered coldly.
Marvin dared not ask any more questions. Judging from her expression and demeanor, he knew she was up to no good.
The car turned and immediately headed toward M Base.
As night fell and dark clouds gathered, Winston’s car stopped at the entrance of Lowell Manor. He anxiously strode to the doorstep and knocked on the door.
“How’s Jo?” he asked the butler.
Joanna had called Winston, claiming that she had tumbled down the stairs and hit her head hard.
And now, not a single light was on in the manor except for the torchlight in the butler’s hand. The living room was pitch black.
“Ms. Lowell is inside,” the butler replied. “Mr. Greer, please go in and check on her.”
Winston took another quick look at the butler before shifting his gaze to the dark manor. His eyes showed a mixture of emotions. He couldn’t fathom why they hadn’t switched on the lights.
As soon as the door closed, the inside of the manor plunged into darkness, leaving Winston unable to see a thing.
Winston proceeded to retrieve his phone, its screen illuminating his face. Just as he was about to turn on the flashlight, he noticed a warm yellow light emanating from inside.
Following the soft glow, he found a candlelit dinner arranged on the table. There were candles, flowers, red wine, and steak.

Soon after, romantic piano music filled the room. Winston glanced up the stairs and saw Joanna approaching him in a seductive dress. With exquisite makeup, she exuded captivating allure.
Joanna stood before Winston. She hooked her arm around his, smiling as she said, “Win, you’re here.
He scrutinized her with a conflicted gaze. “You’re fine?”
What could possibly happen to her? Joanna was better at looking out for herself than anyone else. She would never let herself get hurt. This was merely an act to keep Winston interested.
Joanna wrapped her arms around his waist and muttered pitifully, “Win, I missed you.”
Winston caught a whiff of alcohol on her. She had clearly been drinking and quite heavily too.
He was visibly displeased as he pushed her away. “Joanna, I hate it when people lie to me.”
