Chapter 155
“Winston Greer? Why are you here?” Terrence answered the door, much to Winston’s
surprise.
Winston had assumed that Millie was in Simon’s company. Therefore, Terrence’s presence was unexpected. He wondered if Millie was introducing Simon to her parents.
Terrence scanned Winston from head to toe. Then, he turned to Millie. “Did you invite Winston over?”
“No, she didn’t,” Winston interjected. “I came on my own.‘”
With that, he walked around Terrance and entered the private room.
Terrence was caught off guard by Winston’s lack of manners. In the past, Winston had always shown him and Julia respect despite his dislike of Millie. Today, he clearly didn’t bother with it.
Winston realized that only Julia and Millie were in the room. The ladies seemed puzzled by Winston’s presence and rose from their seats. Millie furrowed her brow in confusion.
Winston seemed troubled.
A thought hit Millie. She blurted out, “Are you here to catch me in the act?”
Julia and Terrence exchanged looks. They were clueless about Millie’s remark. On the other hand, Winston refused to divulge the reason for his intrusion.
However, Winston was shocked by Simon’s absence. He started doubting himself; had he imagined seeing Simon earlier?
Staring at Terrence and Julia, he politely explained, “Dad, Mom, I was in a business meeting on the lower floor. I heard you were upstairs, and I dropped by to say hi.”
Millie was speechless at his excuse.
Julia was stunned, but Terrence knew better. If Winston were truly here to greet them, he wouldn’t have barged into the room with that intensity as if he were looking for someone.
In the midst of the silence, Julia began in a measured tone, “You and Millie are about to divorce. You shouldn’t be calling us Dad‘ and ‘Mom‘ anymore. Mr. Greer, we are

undeserving of a young, accomplished son–in–law like you.”
Winston instinctively glanced at Millie, whose head hung low in silence. She appeared to have silently agreed with her mom.
In the past, Millie would always retort whenever Julia made such self–deprecating remarks. He never thought that she’d one day go along with Julia..
Meanwhile, Millie believed it was pointless to argue against Julia, as that only proved her point. She and Winston were never meant to be; they just happened to cross paths and share part of their lives.
Suddenly, they heard some movements from the restroom. Winston fixed his sharp gaze there as his heart missed a beat. He almost thought he had seen wrong and was relieved to confirm that someone else was indeed in the private room.
He stepped forward, bracing himself for the mental impact of when Simon emerged from the bathroom. Instead, an unexpected figure materialized–a man whose presence confused him.
