Chapter 162
Millie found it hard to believe that some people were kept in the dark about her marriage. She shuddered to imagine how Winston had been introducing himself to others. Did he describe himself as a bachelor?
“Mr. Anderson, do you think my husband’s support is enough if I were to join the entertainment industry?” she taunted Gideon.
He smiled stiffly. Of course, Winston could afford to back her up. There was only one problem…
He prodded cautiously, “Isn’t his wife Joanna Lowell?”
Millie’s heart dropped, and the smile vanished from her face. Arching an eyebrow, she downed the alcohol in her glass and replied flatly, “Mr. Anderson, I suggest you read actual news instead of tabloid gossip.”
Gideon shot her a scrutinizing look before leaving in shame.
When Thomas came over to check on Millie, she was drinking alone.
“What are you doing? Trying to get yourself drunk?” He snatched away a glass of alcohol, which she was about to drink.
Sighing, she snatched it back. “Leave me alone.”
“Someone’s throwing tantrums again,” he grumbled.
Millie frowned and felt anger rising in her. “Why? Am I not allowed to throw tantrums? I, too, am a human with emotions!”
Thomas was taken aback by her outburst. What exactly did Gideon say to her that pissed her off?
“I don’t feel so good. I need to leave now.” She grabbed her bag and proceeded to leave.
Thomas tried to follow her, but she turned and warned him, “Don’t follow me. I’m not a three–year–old.”
Feeling exasperated, Thomas had no choice but to stay put.
Millie pushed open the door of the room. Gideon’s remark echoed in her mind, ruining her mood.

“Isn’t his wife Joanna Lowell?”
She trudged down the corridor. It wasn’t long before she passed by another room and overheard the laughter from within.
Someone said, “Of course! It’s everyone’s dream to work with Mr. Greer! I will have no regrets if I get the opportunity to partner with the Greer Group.”
The mention of Winston made Millie roll her eyes. Walking to the restroom, she wouldn’t stop complaining, “What’s so good about the Greer Group? No regrets in life? Seriously?”
She continued through gritted teeth, “Ugh, that 50–year–old is greasy as fuck! He’s into young ladies, too. How disgusting! I’ll teach him a lesson for taking advantage of me!”
As her cursing intensified, fueled by the effect of alcohol, she heard a man tutting behind her. He remarked sarcastically, “How odd is it to find you scolding me when I haven’t wronged you.”
