She's out of Your League Now (Millie and Winston) novel Chapter 209

Chapter 209

Winston felt a mix of emotions when he looked at Millie

Millie was aware that Selma’s words made him uncomfortable. She was also worried that Winston might misinterpret her intentions, thinking she was deliberately trying to manipulate him

Hence, she smiled reassuringly and said, Don’t worry, I wouldn’t make such an unreasonable request.”

However, the more Millie tried to explain, the more annoyed Winston became. Suddenly, he slammed the door of the private room shut

Millie couldn’t help but lower her head. The once radiant smile on her face slowly faded away

Selma sighed. Mills, you didn’t have to say that. Didn’t you notice he hesitated for a moment? He wasn’t-

Grandma, is there anything else?Millie cut her off

She feared that Selma might claim that Winston didn’t truly want a divorce. Since the day she married him, Selma had been telling her that he would eventually fall in love with her

Millie had clung to this hope unwaveringly, never growing tired of it. However, after so many years, she found she could no longer hold onto that hope

Selma looked at Gloria silently, hoping she would say something. However, Gloria knew that Selma’s words were not convincing, so her own words would have no impact either

A long silence filled the private room, punctuated only by the sound of their breathing. One person sighed, another breathed lightly, and then someone finally said, Go ahead.”

Millie and Selma both gazed at Gloria

You mentioned that you’ve kept Winston trapped for so many years, and now is the time to set him free. Or, more accurately, it was Mom and I who trapped you both all these years.”

Winston hadn’t wanted to marry Millie back then. It was Selma and Gloria who had pushed for the

marriage

Therefore, Millie’s current situation was a result of their actions. It was a shame that the Greer family couldn’t keep Millie as part of their family, as she was truly exceptional

Go ahead with the divorce,Gloria said, shaking her head with a sense of relief

However, Selma was still reluctant to agree

Millie nodded. Thank you for your understanding, Mom and Grandma. I’ll get back to work now.”

Gloria didn’t try to convince Millie to stay. Millie glanced at Selma one last time and walked away

Once outside, Millie took a deep breath, feeling as if she had finally let go of the burdens she had carried for years. She felt incredibly relieved

At the end of the corridor, Winston stood smoking. Mille watched him from afar, longing to reach out and touch him whenever a ray of light illuminated the scene

But as the light faded, his figure turned lonely and obscure, slipping through her fingers. She had never

been able to hold onto Winston before, and she knew she couldn’t catch him now
