Chapter 232
“Bitch! You shameless bitch!” Joanna wouldn’t stop clawing at Millie.
Millie held Joanna by the wrist and gave her a shove. Frowning, she bellowed at Joanna, “Are you done?” Silence enveloped the department. Joanna stumbled onto the floor, cheeks flushed. Two buttons on her shirt went missing.
She looked up and instantly wept at the sight of Millie. Millie, how dare you hit me?”
“So what? Don’t you think you deserve to be hit for acting like a madwoman?” Millie’s ice–cold voice echoed in the space.
Joanna could only point a finger at Millie while sobbing and gasping for breath. She immediately dialed Winston’s number and sobbed into the phone, “Win, Millie just hit me. I need you right now!”
“You-” Vanessa pointed at Joanna and growled, “Why did you bring Dr. Caldwell into our fight?”
Kneeling on the ground, Joanna touched her cheek and stared at Millie with an aggrieved expression. She couldn’t care less about Vanessa, as Millie was the thorn in her flesh.

While attending to Joanna’s scratches at the nurses‘ station, Hazel stole a glance at Winston. He dressed in a black suit and a slightly crooked tie that he put on in a hurry.
He gazed at Joanna with a concerned look. His appearance was breathtaking–his features chiseled and his jawline sharp. He was blessed with thick and long lashes.
He was the epitome of masculinity at every angle.
Hazel dared not breathe loudly when she was in close proximity to Winston, especially in such a depressing and somber mood.
“Ouch, Win. It hurts.” Joanna held his arm.
“Be gentle,” he reminded Hazel stiffly.
Hazel immediately nodded. She proceeded with more caution, and sweat dripped from her forehead from the intense focus.
She dared not hurt Joanna in any way, not in the presence of Yerwick’s legend–Winston Greer.

The sight pained her. It also reminded her of the time when she got hurt at the alcohol tower. He worriedly carried her to the emergency department.
He had shown more tenderness to Joanna than he had ever done to her.
She also found it ridiculous that he left her alone in the hospital room after they had a heated conversation about Joanna, despite knowing that she was afraid of thunderstorms.
