Chapter 341
Chapter 341
Millie’s body abruptly froze, and then she started to fall
“Millie!” Winston shouted, reaching out and swiftly grabbing the rope.
She hung off the wall as Winston’s body was pulled down by the rope until it stopped at the edge. Gasping for breath, she looked up at him in panic.
“Don’t be scared,” he reassured her.
Millie witnessed his hands tightening and pulling the rope upwards. With each tug, her heart ached even more. Why did he insist on saving her?
Slowly, she was being pulled back. However, Michael stepped onto Winston’s back. Involuntarily, his grip loosened. Millie fell once more while he was forcefully propelled forward.
The sirens were blaring below, and red and blue lights reflected in the air. Winston pulled harder, ignoring Michael’s foot on him, and helped Millie up.
Winston’s hands were already injured, and his shirt was ripped from rubbing against the floor. His arms scraped repeatedly against the platform and the concrete floor, causing blood to drip onto Millie’s shoulder.
Millie bit her lip, believing that he owed her this. He owed her a life. If he saved her today, they would finally be even.
“Don’t move!” instructed the police.
Michael turned and crouched down, pressing the dagger against Winston’s neck. “Stay back!”
“Mr. Greer!” Eli emerged from the crowd, his face wearing a complex expression upon spotting Winston.
“I repeat. Stay back!” The police were getting closer, and Michael cut Winston’s arm.
Winston gasped, but he held onto the rope even more tightly. The force made the blood on his arm flow faster.
“Stop!” Michael’s frustration had reached a breaking point as he raised the dagger, ready to strike Winston’s arm once more.
“We won’t go any further! Stay still!” shouted the captain.
“Leave, all of you, or I will kill them both!” Michael threatened.
As Millie gazed at Winston, she noticed the veins protruding on his forehead, a clear sign that he had -exhausted all his strength.
At that moment, she realized that perhaps she held an important place in his heart. Regrettably, this came far too late, too late to stir any emotions within her own heart.
Millie felt like crying and whispered, “Winston.”
He looked at her, sweat dripping down from his forehead. “Hmm.”
Millie was about to speak when she suddenly heard a resounding bang. The sound of gunfire
