tone. 

Joanna felt disheartened by what he had just said. “Is it because Millie is here?” 

Millie gazed at the two of them, feeling powerless. She was reluctant to get involved. Winston wouldn’t drive Joanna away just because she was here. 

He certainly didn’t want Joanna and Gloria to clash. One was his unforgettable first love, and the other was his mother. He was caught in the middle, unable to take sides. 

“Joanna,” Winston called out Joanna unhappily.

He only caught the second half of what she said to him before she fainted. Millie paused, her eyes fixed on Winston. 

His face remained pale, his voice hoarse as he spoke. He locked eyes with her, his gaze filled with intensity. At that moment, he had a lot of questions in mind for Millie.
