Chapter 384
If Sonny was truly the person who kidnapped Winston, then he deserved to die.
What went around came around, after all. Eventually, everyone had to face the consequences of their actions. It wasn’t that justice was absent; it was just that the time hadn’t arrived yet.
After completing her morning tasks, Millie checked the latest entertainment news on her phone.
By that point, the public had shifted their focus to criticizing Jake, with some mocking him and others outright attacking him.
One user wrote, “This is exactly the kind of thing Jake would do. He has no respect for women!”
Another user commented, “He sure is a domineering CEO! But I think they’re a good match. I hope Mr. Webson can win Rachel over.”
“Does getting drunk give him the right to forcefully kiss a woman? What a creep!”
Millie clicked her tongue in disapproval after reading the comments.
Right then, the elevator doors opened, and she made her way to the outpatient pharmacy to collect a patient’s medication.
“Hello, I’m here to pick up the medication for Avery Collins from the Cardiac Surgery Department,” Millie said, tapping on the waiting window.
The nurse nodded and turned to find the medication.
Bored, Millie glanced toward the entrance. To her surprise, she suddenly saw a familiar figure. It was
Joanna.
At the same time, Joanna was walking toward her.
Millie pressed her lips together and asked the nurse inside, “Did you find it yet?”
She truly didn’t want to run into Joanna.
“Just a moment, Dr. Caldwell,” the nurse replied as she placed the medication in a bag.
At that moment, Joanna called out, “Mills, what a coincidence! Are you here picking up medicine?”
Millie sighed inwardly. Since she couldn’t avoid Joanna, she decided to face her head–on.
As she turned, Millie shoved her hands into the pockets of her white coat and smiled at Joanna. “Yes. Are you not feeling well, Ms. Lowell?”
“It’s Win. He got hurt last time while saving you, so came with him to get his bandages changed. I also had the doctor prescribe me something to help me calm my nerves.”
Millie nodded, dismissing the part about Winston. Instead, she responded only to the latter part of
Joanna’s statement.

“Ms. Lowell, given your fragile health, you should definitely look after yourself properly.”
However, Joanna ignored the remark. She was determined to assert her superiority in front of Millie.” Mills, from now on, Win and I are committed to each other. Thank you for giving him back to me.”
Millie immediately raised her hand to stop Joanna. She narrowed her eyes, smiled gently, and replied,” He’s not an object to be handed back and forth. He loves you, so you deserve him!”
As soon as Joanna took a step forward, Millie stepped back. But Joanna was undeterred. She was determined to grab Millie’s hand.
With no way to retreat, Millie let her. Then, Joanna asked pitifully, “Can we stop being so hostile to each other now?”
Millie chuckled awkwardly and quietly pulled her hand away. Joanna, on the other hand, continued, ” Let’s put the past behind us.”
“Joanna, let’s just stay out of each other’s way,” Millie said firmly.
Joanna knew her well. Since Millie had said so, she really wouldn’t hold a grudge over what had happened.
