Whenever that happened, he would have the crazy idea of having Millie all to himself. 

Winston exerted more force as he stroked her lips. It was as if waves of emotion were surging in his eyes, and he even smudged Millie’s lipstick.

Eli frowned and thought about it carefully. He answered truthfully, “Mr. Greer, I can’t remember clearly, but I know that Ms. Caldwell didn’t seem to have shown up that day.
