“That explains it.” All of a sudden, Winnie recalled Yulissa’s last words before her death. “No wonder Yulissa said that the truth will forever be buried upon her death and that I’ll never have a proper relationship with Xavier. If Christopher hadn’t survived and the ring hadn’t seen the light of day, Xavier would forever carry the guilt of killing him. It would have become an unremovable thorn in our relationship,” Winnie murmured to herself, her heart filled with a mix of bitter emotions.

When she subconsciously turned to look at Xavier, it was to see the latter staring back at her.

Without saying another word, he reached out his hand to pull her toward him.
