Sir, Madam Dispeared Again After Divorce! novel Chapter 1009

When Zach caught up with Julien, the latter was already by the elevator.

Looking at Julien’s gloomy face, Zach knew that he was in a bad mood. After thinking for a moment, he pulled out a cigarette case from his pocket and offered a cigarette to him. "Mr. Flint, would you like one?"

Julien glanced at him and stood up straight. "No, I quit smoking."

"What?" Zach was stunned. "You quit?"

When did this happen?

How come he didn't know?

Although Julien was not addicted to smoking, he occasionally smoked one or two.

Zach had never heard that Mr. Flint had quit smoking.

Julien raised his chin slightly, with no concealment of pride in his tone. "I just quit smoking recently. Leaf said it's bad for my health and wouldn't let me smoke anymore. Since she cares so much about me, how can I disappoint her?"

"Uh..." Zach's lips twitched. "So that's how it is. Alright, I'll smoke it myself then."

While saying this, he took the cigarette back.

Julien frowned. "You're not allowed to smoke either."

"Why?" Zach was about to put the cigarette in his mouth when he heard this, and he couldn't help asking curiously, "Could it be that you're worried about my health too, Mr. Flint?"

Zach was so touched by this.

He had worked for Julien for more than ten years. However, instead of showing concern for him, Julien always gave all the dirty and tiring tasks to him.

He had thought he would continue living under the oppression of this cold-blooded boss.

It was out of his expectation that Julien finally showed some human-like qualities, which indeed moved him.

This was all thanks to Sydney.

Just as Zach felt joyful, Julien's next words rained on his parade and made him feel all his emotions just now were ridiculous.

"Are you daydreaming?" Julien frowned and looked at Zach with disdain. "How can I possibly care about a man? I told you not to smoke because I don't want to inhale secondhand smoke from you and disappoint Leaf's concern for me. What does that have to do with you?"

Zach put the cigarette back into the case with a blank expression.

He should have thought of this earlier.

How could a wicked boss who had been with him for more than ten years suddenly become more human?

If he could make a change, it should have been a long time ago.

'I am still too naive. I actually believed that Julien would care about me. How foolish I am!' Zach thought.

Julien warned coldly, "Never smoke in front of me again, or don't blame me for making things difficult for you."

Zach's lips twitched again and he replied, "Yes."

Julien was finally satisfied and withdrew his gaze from Zach.

Just then, the elevator arrived. Julien stepped in and Zach followed closely behind.

"By the way, Dallin asked me to pass on a message to you when we left just now." Zach suddenly remembered and quickly relayed the message to Julien.

After Julien listened to it, his face was full of hostility. "He is really persistent and even dares to threaten me."

It seems that his kick just now was too light.

"Mr. Flint, even though Dallin knew that exchanging your mother's personal belongings for his illegitimate daughter would completely enrage you and might even get himself killed on the spot, he still did it. Perhaps Greta is really Dallin's daughter and their strange way of interaction is simply because Dallin doesn't like her but still has to protect her since she is his only descendant," Zach analyzed, touching his chin.

Then he looked at Julien and asked, "Mr. Flint, I can tell that the thing Dallin mentioned was really important to your mother. Should we retrieve it?"

Julien said nothing, lowering his head in deep thought.

Seeing this, Zach also fell silent without disturbing him.

Meanwhile, Sydney and Luke had finished their meal. They called the waiter over and were preparing to pay the bill before heading to the bank to meet with the president.

Sydney opened her purse and took out her phone, asking, "How much is it?"

The waiter opened his notebook to look at it. Then he said with a smile, "Ms. Raines, your meal with this gentleman has already been paid."

Sydney stopped scanning the QR code for paying and looked up at the waiter. "What did you say? The bill has been paid?"

"Yes." The waiter nodded with a smile.

Sydney quickly turned her head to look at Luke. "Did you pay for it?"

"It wasn't me. I never left the private room." Luke shook his head with his hands spread out.
