I couldn’t sit still any longer as the thought sank in. “Jenny, why don’t we go back?”
“Fine,” Jenny said as she stood up as we walked back to our seats. Eric was still sound asleep, while Camille looked distressed, so Jenny asked, “Did President Walker eat anything?”
“Yes, and I don’t know why. It’s been over ten hours now, but all he does is sleep while he ignores me.”
“Could he be sick?” I interrupted.
“I don’t know! That’s annoying!” Camille said as she pushed him once more. “Eric, you need to get up and eat!”
Looking irritated, Eric responded, “Aren’t you an annoying bunch? How am I going to sleep when you guys are constantly pestering me?”
His words left the three of us looking at each other while neither of us dared say anything else. In the meantime, she gave up on sleep. Instead, he started surfing the web on his tablet. I sat in my chair in fear, all the while wondering if he was really refusing to eat because he was angry with me.
my.
If that was the case, then surely he was being childish. However, I wasn’t sure if he was angry because I scolded him, so I emailed him on the tablet. “You should eat! Stop making people worry!”
No response came despite the time that had passed so I sent him another message. ‘Are you mad at me?’
So I sent a third message out of sheer obstinacy despite the lack of response. ‘I am willing to apologize if you are angry because I scolded you. I didn’t want to scold him, but I wasn’t in the mood. You shouldn’t have a tantrum over this, so why don’t you scold me?’
Finally, a reply came after that, ‘You need to apologize!’
Feelings of annoyance washed over me reading his text as it made me realize he was really mad at me so I texted him, ‘I’m sorry!’
‘That’s not even sincere!’
‘Then what am I supposed to do?’
‘My stomach hurts.’
Serves well! I mentally scolded him but kept typing a text. “Why don’t I ask the flight attendant to get your medicine?”
‘No.’
“How about I ask them to get some juice?”
‘I don’t like juice.’
‘What would you like? Would you like some sweets? The desserts sold at the bar looked tasty.’
‘Whatever it is. I’ll forgive you, considering how sincere you are. Bring me dessert from the bar. I will be there soon.
Did you forgive me because you’re hungry? I stifled a chuckle as I decided to keep that as evidence so I could mock him a few times in the future for being petty despite his status. After that, I got up to leave for the bar after turning off the tablet with a muffled laugh. I asked the waiter to prepare a dessert for Eric, which he began to eat as soon as he sat down.
“Would you like a proper meal instead? you didn’t eat
“He is well.”
eat for a long time after all,” I reminded him.
After making sure he had finished his dessert, I got up. “I’m leaving.”
“Stay with me for a while.”
