Chapter 294 Not Giving Up Any Possibility
But his reaction clearly did not mean that. “Uncle, there is a person on it who is my father. He has passed away.” Lyra chased after him.
The old man paused.
“I have said that I have never seen him. I don’t know him!”
“I came here alone, and I don’t have any money on me. Can you help me?” Lyra asked. The old man took a few steps and finally stopped. He looked back at Lyra. “My neighbor runs a hotel. If you don’t mind, you can go and take a look.” He sighed slowly. “Okay, thank you!” Lyra smiled and quickened her pace to catch up with the old man. “You have been living here for a long time, haven’t you?” she asked softly, taking the initiative to support the old man’s arm. The old man guarded against her in his heart and did not say a word.
He took her to the hotel and left.
Lyra still found out the name of the old man from the inn owner: Zhang Feng. “Did something happen to his leg?” Lyra wanted to know more about the old man. The inn owner looked at Lyra suspiciously. “Who are you? I don’t welcome guests like you. If you don’t want to stay, then go out.” “No, no, no. Uncle Zhang saved me just now. I want to thank him.” Lyra quickly handed over her ID. The innkeeper saw that she was good-looking and well-behaved, and did not look like a liar, so he nodded.
“Brother Zhang was injured in the city when he was young. He later returned to town to retire.”
The hotel was very small and it only had five rooms. After Lyra was brought into the room, she felt that it was relatively clean and breathed a sigh of relief. However, there was no hot water bottle in the room. When she went downstairs to ask the boss, she happened to see Hank and Keith standing on the first floor of the hotel.
“We only have one room left. You two men can’t live in it, right?”
When Keith heard this news, he only looked at Hank. Hank’s eyes darkened. He glanced at Lyra who came downstairs and whispered, “We can.”
Lyra frowned and turned to leave. However, he did not expect to be grabbed by Hank’s wrist. “What a coincidence, Ms. Jones!” Lyra had just fooled him and did not want to meet him, so she struggled a little. The innkeeper also came forward and said righteously, “Who are you? If you bully the little girl, I will call the police to arrest you.” Lyra dodged and hid behind. She now knew that the people in this town all had a sense of justice. She smiled proudly, but still explained to the boss, “They are people I know.” Even so, the innkeeper still scolded them with a few words. It was the first time Lyra had seen someone dare to criticize Hank like this. She went back to her room in satisfaction and washed her hair. It was late at night and it was raining heavily. The inn was an old house. Through the window, she could hear the rustling rain outside, as if she was sleeping on the street. Lyra tossed and turned repeatedly, unable to fall asleep, and she decided to get up and go downstairs.
Just as she reached the first floor, she heard someone talking.
“No wonder, the first time I saw you, I felt…”
Is it Uncle Zhang?
Lyra quickly walked a few steps and saw Hank and Uncle Zhang sitting together at the tea table. From the looks of it, they seemed to already know each other.
“How many years ago was that? When I saw you at that time, you were only this tall, right?” Uncle Zhang smiled emotionally.
Lyra stood in the shadows behind the steps, quietly listening. It turned out that Uncle Zhang could smile so happily. “I also didn’t expect that you would move back here and change your name.” Hank’s voice was a bit sad.
“Sigh, after what happened that year, I couldn’t stay in the city anymore. My legs were crippled, so I could only come back to retire.” Uncle Zhang smiled bitterly. “If your father saw that you were so successful now, how happy would he be?” Uncle Zhang smiled bitterly. Lyra’s hand was on the handle of the stairs, and her brows were furrowed.
