Chapter 295 Don’t Ask Anymore
She looked at the man who was surrounded by the villagers in the town and felt that it was very ironic. He had ruined her family, but he could always live such a respected and flattered life.
On what basis?
Lyra bit the corner of her lips and walked over step by step.
“Mr. Barnwell is really kind. Can you tell me why you came to participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony today? You are not doing this for the children who can’t attend school, but to save the face and reputation of your company.”
Her words attracted the attention of everyone.
“Everyone, it is true that the Barnwell group donated this Hope Primary School, but your gratitude was deliberately used by him and became his tool to make money. It is also a fact.”
“Don’t you feel ashamed to see their sincere and grateful eyes?”
She wanted to expose Hank’s fake pretense and let everyone know that he was a sanctimonious hypocrite!
Deception was the trick this man was best at.
The villagers were puzzled. “Miss, how can you say that? Mr. Barnwell is our great benefactor.” “Using hundreds of thousands to earn face for the Barnwell group, this deal is really too worthwhile.” Lyra gritted her teeth in hatred. How could he deceive these simple people? As soon as Lyra finished speaking, Uncle Zhang walked over from behind. Uncle Zhang grabbed her, “You’re an outsider, what do you know? Go to the side.”
Following that, Uncle Zhang loudly shouted, “It is Mr. Barnwell who allows the children in town to study. We have to thank him!”
“Thank you!”
Wave after wave of shouts drowned out all the words that Lyra had just said.
She looked at Uncle Zhang in confusion. Before she could say anything else, Uncle Zhang pulled her away angrily. “Today is the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the elementary school. If you dare to cause trouble, I won’t be polite to you.” Uncle Zhang’s face was flushed red, and he looked extremely angry.
The entire playground was newly built. It was clean and there was a row of poplar trees planted behind it. With the handwriting on the wall, it had a strong academic atmosphere. It could be seen that it had been carefully designed. Lyra couldn’t help but be a little upset about what she had just said. Perhaps, as these villagers thought, Hank really did a good thing for this place. Otherwise, where would these children go to school?
“Mr. Barnwell!”
A child with a windmill in his hand ran over. His face was flushed red from the wind. He raised his little hand and handed the windmill to Hank timidly and nervously. “I made it myself. Thank you for coming! My mother said that you are a great
entrepreneur. I will study hard in the future and work for you in your company.” His usually cold face actually smiled a little because of this child’s voice. “No, you have to do many big things in the future. As long as you are willing to work hard, you can succeed.” The child nodded as if he understood.
Then, he looked at Lyra, who was next to him. His small eyes rolled and he looked at Hank.
Then, he grinned, revealing two little tiger teeth. “Thank you, Madam,” she bowed to Lyra earnestly. Madam?
“I am not…” Before Lyra could explain, the child had already run far away. She could only clench her fingers and take half a step to the side. Seeing her alienated actions, Hank’s eyes darkened a little. “Mr. Barnwell, the reporters are ready to interview you alone.” Keith quickly came over. Lyra was very observant and immediately left when she heard the noise. But when she went around the other side of the teaching building, she found that the photo she had brought was missing. “Oh no.” She returned to the ribbon-cutting platform to look for it, but she could not find it even after searching everywhere. “Are you looking for this?” a rough and wild uncle from the countryside asked in a cold voice as he held the photo.
