Chapter 1202 Celebrating The Birthday Of Grandpa
“In just these few days, the true colors of this child have been fully revealed. I never expected him to be so disobedient. I must certainly teach him a lesson today. “Flynn, get out of my way, or I’ll beat you up too!” Zachary said, his face filled with anger.
The aura of dominance emanating from Zachary was so intense that even Flynn-the king of Nebula City’s underworld-found it somewhat unbearable. Flynn didn’t doubt Zachary’s words for a second, knowing that if he didn’t let the latter proceed, he would surely be the one to take a beating as well.
Things have come to this point, and Flynn no longer intends to keep hiding. I can’t let such a sensible child like Stanley take the blame, can I?
“Mr. Zachary, it’s true that Stanley is wrong for sneaking out today. But he did it to prepare a surprise for you!” Flynn explained.
“Surprise?” Zachary muttered, still unable to understand why. He turned his gaze to Stanley and asked, “Stanley, what’s going on? Tell me!”
“Grandpa, I overheard your conversation with Dad. You will be leaving me in a month, and I will miss you terribly. But I don’t want to be a burden to you. When I see other kids celebrating their birthdays, I realize that I’ve never celebrated yours,” explained Stanley.
With his head lowered, Stanley continued, enunciating each word. “So, I took the liberty of sneaking out and had Godpa take me to the cake shop to order a special cake for you. The reason I didn’t tell you was because I wanted to surprise you.”
Hearing these words, Zachary felt a wave of guilt wash over him. He had previously thought that Stanley was ignorant, but he didn’t expect that the little guy was so sensible that it made Zachary feel bad.
At such a young age, Stanley already knows to celebrate my birthday with me.
Indeed, having spent so many years in Doomsday Prison, even having a full meal is a luxury for me, let alone celebrating my birthday. Unexpectedly, this little one in front of me is thinking of me in such a way.
The more Stanley was like this, the more it pained Zachary’s heart. Thinking about it filled Zachary’s heart. with waves of guilt. Stanley is clearly so understanding, yet I have just hit him with a wooden paddle. His hands are all red from being beaten by me.
Frantically throwing the wooden paddle in his hand onto the floor, Zachary grasped Stanley’s hand, his breath hitching with regret. “My dear grandson, did I hurt you? It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have hit you. If there’s something on your mind, just say it! Why keep it to yourself? If you speak up, I assure you, I would never have the heart to scold you!”
Tears uncontrollably streamed down Stanley’s face. He suddenly threw himself into Zachary’s arms, sobbing as he said, “I sneaked out, causing Grandpa and Dad to worry. I deserve to be punished, but I can’t bear to see Grandpa leave. Grandpa, I can’t bear to lose you.”
Zachary heaved a deep sigh. He had never been so affectionate toward Alex when the latter was younger. But now that he was old, he found his grandson to be so well-behaved and endearing, no matter how he looked at the latter. Could this be the affection one feels for their grandchild?
The misunderstanding was cleared up, and the family was once again living in harmony. Although today was not Zachary’s birthday, the cake that Stanley had prepared was meant to celebrate a birthday for Zachary while Zachary was still with them.
Zack went to prepare dinner, with Wanda lending a helping hand. The kitchen was bustling with activity. Meanwhile, in the living room, Stanley nestled in Zachary’s arms, the two of them engrossed in the TV show.
