Chapter 166
Alex scrunched his brows. He did not want to meet Kate at first, but what Jessica said next changed his mind, “Kate is negotiating with the Hale family for a big project. She is kind of intimidated by them, especially since the Hale’s have purposely made things difficult for her. She wants to ask you for advice.”
“The Hale family?” Alex was startled. “You tell her to wait for a while. I will ask my driver to accompany her.”
Leo was one of their friends from university. Logically speaking, he would not deliberately make trouble for Kate unless he held a grudge against her.
“Okay.” Jessica nodded and left the place.
“The director wants you to wait downstairs. He said he will send his driver to accompany you,” Jessica spoke to Kate.
Kate was slightly disappointed but still she said nothing and left.
In actual fact, she wanted
thank the Director in person for stepping in last night to save her and Heather Perhaps she just had to put this off to another day.
Kate returned to her office. After retrieving all her documents, she headed downstairs right away.
Very soon, Alex appeared at the entrance with his car.
Kate entered the car with a contemptuous look.
“Why didn’t you show up last night when I texted you? Aren’t you worried that your wife would be taken advantage of?” Kate questioned Alex scornfully.
“I really didn’t see your message. Moreover, by the time I saw your text, Heather had already gone back,” Alex muttered nonchalantly and set off for the Hale family’s company.
Kate shook her head in despair. Heather sure is unlucky to have stumbled upon a man like Alex! If it weren’t for the Director last night, the both of us would have….
Kate did not dare to continue on with that line of thought. She plugged in her earphones to distract herself from her own thoughts.
After a while, she removed her earphones and said, “Has the Director told you? You have to accompany me to meet Leo later.”
“Huh? The Director didn’t tell me that. I will just wait for you downstairs. If you need me, just call me or text me. I will head up right away,” Alex replied.
Kate furrowed her brows. Alex had offended Leo the other day. If Leo saw him, he would definitely fly off the handle.
Additionally, Kate knew Leo had a thing for her. Even though they were classmates back in college, Kate did not trust Leo. All the turbulent years spent in Nebula City had taught her one thing. That is, not to simply place her trust in anyone.
“Alright then. But this time round, please keep your eyes on your phone. Or else, you will get it from me when I’m back,” Kate warned Alex sternly.
“Don’t worry. As long as I am around, no one can hurt you.” Alex smiled sheepishly.
Before Kate could reply, the car had already arrived at the Hale’s company building.
Somehow, Kate still had faith in Alex’s capabilities.
In terms of combat ability, Alex was only second to the Director despite how useless he was.
Chapter 166
She tidied up her hair and got off the car with her documents in one hand. She then headed straight for the building’s entrance.
Watching Kate sauntered towards the entrance, Alex rubbed his chin as he ogled at Kate’s slender figure.
