The creature was famished. It opened its mouth wide behind Carlene, ready to sink its teeth into her flesh. Carlene shrieked. Alex pulled her and threw her behind, then he grabbed the alligator’s jaws with bare hands.
“Go! Swim to the bank! I’ll distract it!” he shouted as he struggled with the alligator.
A shiver went down her body. Never in her life had anyone risked his life to come to her rescue.
But this man who was just a stranger cared for her deeply.
He came to her rescue despite the peril.
Thinking of that, she took a good took a look at him. He was holding the alligator’s jaws and the alligator’s teeth had pierced deep through his palms.
She felt the same pain pierced through her heart.
“Alex…” tears started welling up in her eyes.
“Please stay safe.” Her voice became muffled with tears.
She could not hold it in anymore.
But she knew crying was not going to get the situation anywhere.
She had to get to safety as soon as possible. That was the only way they could get out of this.
She took a final look at Ale before she swam fiercely towards the bank.
The creature was enraged.
In a splash, it gave a forceful swing, propelling its heavy body downwards.
It dragged Alex to the bottom of the lake. But he did not let go of the creature.
Alex was fixated on fighting this beast. He braced himself to kill it with his own hands, no matter what it would take.
He did not believe that he could not fight this alligator, for it stood no chance against his inexhaustible Mortal Force.
Seeing Alex being dragged towards the lakebed, Kurt Taylor could not help but feel a kernel of thrill budding in his heart.
Although Carlene was unhappy with the fact that he left her behind, it was still better than losing his own life.
But for Alex, this would be the end of him.
Everyone squealed when they saw Alex going down with the alligator. They were worried about his life.

Clearly, they genuinely wanted him to survive. He was courageous and they were all rooting for him.
And of course, many ladies fell for his brave act.
It could not be helped. No girl would say no to a prince charming in shining armor.
“Alex! Stay safe. Please come back alive!”
A voice came from the crowd. It was Jessica. She saw Alex sank to the bottom with the alligator. She was so worried she even forgot she was drenched.
“Jessica, you should probably call his family. There is no way he is going to survive the animal.” Zachariah could not help but gloat at Alex’s misfortune.
“Shut up!” Jessica howled in disbelief without taking her eyes off the lake.
Never had she hated anyone so much before.
But Zachariah–he deserved every bit of her hatred.
Zachariah’s expression changed. “He is bound to die. The creature will savor his flesh and bones,” he made every word slow and heard.
He scoffed as he turned and went towards Kurt.
