Alex cut Rose off with a single wave of his hand. “Running away with our tails between our legs is not how I work.”
Rose was speechless. That’s admirable, Alex, but can you maybe turn the cogs in your brain a little? What will you‘ do when Jayden calls one or two hundred goons to attack us? Do you really think you can defeat all of them?
“Um, Alex, their numbers are too big…” Rose muttered.
“Fighting depends on brains, not brawn,” Alex explained, tapping his head. “Numbers mean nothing in a fight.”
Rose was once again swayed by his persuasiveness. Somehow, she felt what he said made sense, even though she wasn’t sure how.
“Kid, here’s a chance for you to unleash your madness. Just wait and we’ll see how fierce you can be,” Jayden promised. He threw the tissue he was pressing against his bleeding wound away before pulling out fresh new ones to replace it.
He didn’t have any other option. Alex threw the wine glass with incredible force, resulting in a huge gaping wound that wouldn’t stop bleeding.
Had he not wanted desperately to get his revenge on Alex, he wouldn’t be here waiting for backup. Instead, he would already be on his way to get stitches in the hospital.
He definitely needed stitches. The wound was probably four centimeters wide.
“Alex, if I were you, I would be on my knees begging for mercy! Who knows, maybe he might spare your worthless life. Otherwise, prepare to be a cripple because he is gonna break your legs!” Lily said smugly.
Alex poured himself another drink before knocking it back with one smooth swallow. He wiped his mouth and said to Lily mockingly, “Hey, tell your goons to hurry up, won’t you? I’m getting rather bored here.”
This guy is a madman!
He is insane!
Jayden and Lily were so mad they could taste blood in their mouths. “Kid, you better put your money where your mouth is!”
Since they weren’t worthy of his attention anymore, Alex glanced over at Dylan, who looked devastated.
“Alex, I swear I only meant to invite you here! I met these two on the way and they insisted on coming along. I didn’t know Whitney would invite Lily along…” he explained hurriedly.
“They were once our classmates, weren’t they? Of course, they can come along. What’s the issue with a friendly drink between pals?” Alex smiled lazily.
“Huh? You don’t blame me for this?” Even as he felt a sense of relief, Dylan was taken aback.
“Come on now, we are brothers! Don’t I know you by now? This is nothing, don’t take it to heart,” Alex said with a smile of assurance.
We are brothers! Hearing this, Dylan felt exhilaration surged through his body.

He said with clenched fists, “Alex, back when I was hospitalized, you said I could hit you up once I was discharged.”
Alex nodded. “Yup, have you thought about it?”
Dylan bopped his head up and down vigorously. “I have!”
“That’s good. Come meet me in my office tomorrow.” Alex raised his glass toward Dylan to clink their glasses together.
The latter nodded, downing his drink before pouring Alex another.
“Alex, I don’t know what’d have happened to me if you didn’t help me then. This is a toast for you.” Finishing his short but heartfelt speech, Dylan downed his wine in one gulp.
Alex smiled but remained silent, choosing instead to down his drink with Dylan.
Afterward, he said warmly, “Dylan, since we are brothers now, stop being so stiff and proper with me. Formality between friends will only make things awkward, you know?”
He didn’t have many friends. In fact, Flynn and Dylan were probably the only ones he considered friends.
