To prevent Heather and the others from asking questions, he did not ask for a VIP room. He settled for an ordinary private room instead. 

Lucas’ case was nothing short of a miracle. Carmen ordered the best dishes to celebrate her son’s recovery. 

“Granny is nice to me, after all. In order to save me, she spent twenty-two million to hire Dr. Skyworth to save me,” Lucas sighed. 

“You’re her grandson. Looks like we’ve misunderstood her,” Carmen added.

When he noticed that the entire family was grateful to Demi, Alex scoffed, “She was just using you.” 

He had already found out that the reason Demi had spent such a large sum was for Heather to get him to sell the Jennings Corporation’s shares back to her at the original price. 

When he learned of this, he sighed. Demi is a sharp woman and has learned from her lesson. Now, she’s bribing them with kindness. 

“Who’re you to talk? You didn’t even come and visit me!” Lucas snapped. 

When he thought of how Alex had only come to visit him for a short while and returned, he felt frustrated. 

He’s my brother-in-law, but he acts like I’m an outsider! Now, he’s attacking Granny as well. Darn it! 

Alex was taken aback. I didn’t visit you? 

Alex sneered. If it weren’t for me, you’d still be confined to bed! 

He could not be bothered with Lucas and asked Heather, “Will you be asking the chairman to sell the shares back to the Jennings family?” 

Heather nodded. “Since I promised Granny, I’ll have to go.” 

Alex scorned, “Haven’t you noticed? Your grandmother is using you. When she finds out you’re no longer of use to her, she’ll kick you aside like trash.” 

Lucas protested, “Stop judging others by your own standards! Not everyone is as callous as you are!” 

“I’m callous now? Alright, I’m done here,” Alex declared. What on earth happened to Lucas? Why is he at odds with me today? 

“Alright, that’s enough. Let’s eat; the food is getting cold. We’re all adults, so I’ll decide what to do with my life,” Heather announced. 

“Alright then, I guess I’m being a busybody!” Alex set his utensils aside and scowled. “Enjoy your meal. I’m full, so I’ll leave after settling the bill.” 

He then left the private room. 

Carmen signaled Heather to stop him. 

Heather spat, “Leave him! Who cares about him? I’ve had enough with him meddling in my affairs. already! Just who does he think he is?”
