Chapter 802 A Peculiar Scent 

Back in Arthur’s Tavern, Alex and Maggie were almost done with their meal. 

The two of them discussed what to gift Richard for his birthday. Despite their prolonged discussion, they had yet to reach a conclusion. 

Most of their conversation revolved around Maggie’s various attempts to flirt and captivate Alex. However, the man remained unfazed by her charms. 

Such a stubborn man! 

Maggie cursed the dense man countless times in her heart. She even considered cracking open his head to see what could possibly make him so impervious to her charms. 

After leaving the restaurant, Alex found Maggie intended to follow him back to the hotel. 

“Why are you following me?” he asked, puzzled. 

Maggie shrugged nonchalantly and replied, “Why should you care where I go? It’s late, so it’s unsafe for me to return alone. Can’t I get a room here too?” 

If that’s the case, then there’s nothing I can do. Alex shrugged and returned to his own room. 

Meanwhile, Maggie took the room opposite his. 

Alex was unsure whether being pursued by such a stunning beauty was a stroke of luck or a curse. In any case, he felt rather helpless. 

Just as he was settling into the soft bed, he noticed a peculiar scent in the room. 

Then, he took in another sniff carefully and confirmed his suspicion. 

The scent in the room was different from when he first checked in. 

Why has the smell changed so dramatically? He sniffed again and felt an unusual heat creeping up his body, causing his vision to blur. 

However, being a Master rank warrior, he was no ordinary man. How could he be stirred by such a mundane thing? 

He concentrated Mortal Force in his body and expelled the unnatural heat from his body. His expression grew stern as he furrowed his brows. 

Upon investigating, he found a candle burning slowly in the room. The unusual scent was emanating from the candle. 

Having identified the source of the problem, Alex extinguished the candle and tossed it into the trash, clearing the room of the mysterious aroma. 

The first person to come to Alex’s mind was Maggie. After all, she had booked this room for him, and she was the most likely person to attempt such a trick. 

His suspicions were not baseless, since Maggie had tried such tactics before. Back at Sakura Club, she had. snuck into his room late at night in an attempt to seduce him. 

However, he didn’t expect that she would resort to using such props to trick him this time. He had never taken issue with her before, but this incident had cast her in a different light.

As he was occupied with these thoughts, someone suddenly knocked on his door.
