Chapter 824 Destroy My Family 

The birthday banquet descended into chaos as a man, seemingly possessed by madness, chased after a woman with relentless fervor. He struck her with brutal force as if intent on taking her life. 

At the same time, the woman frantically evaded the man’s attacks as she ran, her pleas for assistance echoing throughout the venue. Alas, the crowd remained frozen in inaction, merely spectating her misfortune. 

The two individuals involved were none other than Shawn and Clara. As the woman cried out for assistance, Shawn seized the opportunity to grab a fistful of her hair. 

The intense pain left tears brimming in Clara’s eyes. Regrettably, her visible anguish failed to evoke a sense of sympathy in the man as he delivered a callous slap across her face in the next second. 

“You’ve destroyed my family, you b*tch. I’m going to beat you to death today. You’re going to pay for what you’ve done!” Shawn’s voice echoed through the chaos, his onslaught against Clara intensifying- 

As a woman, Clara was not powerful enough to strike back. 

The reason no one was helping Clara during her brutal beating soon became clear. Shawn, who had lost all sense of rationality, resorted to violence against Robert when he tried to help the woman. He hit Robert’s head with a bench, rendering the man unconscious with a profuse bleeding wound. 

Naturally, no one dared to intervene after witnessing such a gruesome scene. 

The crowd deduced that Clara must have done something terrible to have provoked such a ruthless response from Shawn, to the extent that he dared to incite chaos at the Grant residence and launch a furious assault on Clara. 

As a result, they deemed Clara to be deserving of the brutal beating she’d received from the man and preferred to watch the scene unfold with detached amusement. Even those accompanied by bodyguards chose not to intervene. 

At that point, Clara’s body was covered in bruises, her once neatly arranged hair now disheveled, and her clothing in disarray. She looked completely different from her dazzling self when she first arrived at the banquet 

Having grown exhausted from beating her, Shawn grabbed a glass from a nearby table, smashed it on the ground, and picked up a piece of broken glass before advancing maliciously toward Clara. 

“You b*tch. It’s all your fault that everyone in my family is dead. I’ve lost my job, my wife, and my children. I’m going to make you pay even if it’s the last thing I do,” he declared. 

An hour prior, Shawn received a call from his superior, the mayor of Nebula City. He was informed of his immediate termination and the grim prospect of never being employable again. 

Shawn was left perplexed and bewildered by his abrupt termination. Having formed what he believed to be a friendship with the mayor over their long working relationship, he couldn’t fathom why he was dismissed without any apparent reason. 

The mayor recounted everything that happened in Nebula City to Shawn. 

It turned out that his wife attempted to reach him the other day regarding their son’s deteriorating health. Their son had been battling congenital heart disease since childhood and had experienced a severe relapse that day.
