Chapter 823 A Second Wife
“Don’t push it, old man. Since the pills are yours, the grandson-in-law will be mine. Look at how pretty my granddaughter is. She’s more than worthy of being with this young man.”
With an air of authority, Giles firmly grasped the delicate arm of his granddaughter as he guided her purposefully toward where Alex stood. In a single, calculated motion, he propelled Lydia forward, urging her closer to the young man.
In the past, such an act would have been beyond the elderly man’s capabilities. Yet, his physical form had grown sturdier, endowed with newfound strength. Alas, despite her reluctance, Lydia was dragged along by her grandfather’s determined pull.
At the sight of the Alex and Lydia standing side by side, Giles smacked his lips and exclaimed, “What a great match! They look like a match made in heaven!”
Richard could no longer contain his frustration. Sensing the potential loss of his grandson-in-law to Giles, he hastened forward and pointed directly at his old friend. “Enough, you old geezer. My granddaughter is the one Alex likes. Besides, they have feelings for each other. Just take a look at the necklace Maggie is wearing-it was a gift from Alex himself.”
As Richard’s words hung in the air, all eyes fixed upon the intricate Heart of Lovebirds adorning Maggie’s neck.
“1-” Complex emotions surged within Giles as he laid eyes on the necklace. Why does that old geezer keep getting good things? I won’t be able to get another grandson-in-law as outstanding as Alex if I let this opportunity slip out of my hands.
After giving it some thought, Giles suggested, “What do you think about getting a second wife, Alex?”
Alex was mind-blown, taken aback by the turn of events.
All I did was present a box of pills as a gift. Why are they fighting to marry their granddaughters
After a moment of contemplation, Alex piped up, “Sorry. I’m afraid I have to reject you be told, I’m already married, and I even have a five-year-old son.”
At that moment, Maggie stepped forward, her hand reaching out to hold Alex’s arm. With she addressed Giles, “Old Mr. Siddall, Alex might be married, but he’s going back in two day the divorce proceedings with his wife. Until then, he’s my boyfriend, and the notion of getting wife is out of the question.”
Though aware of Alex’s talent, fame, and his allure among women, Maggie never anticipated finding herself in such a situation, let alone having him consider getting a second wife.
At that, Maggie turned to glance at the man. Will he not like me anymore for ruining his chance with Lydia?

She cast him an apologetic look as she uttered, “Sorry, I shouldn’t have decided for you. 1-I don’t mind it if -you want to take a second wife.”
Alex was amused. I never said I wanted to take a second wife. We’re living in the twenty-first century where monogamy is practiced. Taking a second wife is such an old practice. Who on earth is still doing it?
