Chapter 833 Happy For You
At ten o’clock in the morning the following day, when Heather arrived at the Civil Affairs Bureau on time, Alex had already been waiting there.
The two had already signed their agreements and had nothing more to say to each other. They proceeded with the divorce and went their separate ways, officially ending their marriage.
“Alex, thank you for your understanding. From now on, let’s never cross paths again.” Heather smiled before driving away.
At that moment, she felt at ease and elated. She could finally pursue her own happiness.
Alex didn’t say a word and merely watched indifferently as she left. A beat later, he drove away too.
After departing from the Civil Affairs Bureau, Heather went straight to Four Seas Corporation without hesitation. Because of her relationship with Jessica, she managed to get into the building without facing any impediments.
Heather grabbed Jessica’s hand and uttered excitedly. “Jessica, is the chairman here? I need to talk to him about something.” The chairman must’ve distanced himself from me because he knew I was married and didn’t want my reputation to be marred. I’m confident he has deep feelings for me since he repeatedly helped me despite knowing I was married. If I inform the chairman about my divorce, he may treat me better and even take off his mask.
At that thought, Heather grew more excited and was overwhelmed by the urge to walk up to the chairman, hug him tightly, and tell him about her divorce from Alex.
The chairman isn’t in. If you have something to tell him, you can let me know, and I’ll relay the my to him.” Jessica eyed Heather in puzzlement, not knowing why the latter was so thrilled. “Heathe you so happy today? Did something good happen?”
Heather was inexplicably disappointed to hear the chairman wasn’t there, but the radiant smile s returned to her countenance. She took a deep breath and said solemnly, “Jessica, something great happen today. You’ll definitely be happy for me, too, when I tell you.”
“Stop keeping me in suspense. Hurry up and tell me,” Jessica said impatiently.
“I divorced Alex. From now on. I’m single again and have nothing to do with him anymore,” Heather chirped.
She no longer had to endure others’ disdainful looks in the future. In the past, whenever Alex was rebuked and ridiculed as the good-for-nothing from Nebula City, Heather would also be looked down upon.
Although she knew Alex wasn’t as useless as others said, that didn’t mean everyone else shared that sentiment. Everywhere she went, people would point fingers at her and whisper that she had blindly married a good-for-nothing.
Heather was under the assumption that Jessica would share her joy, but when she noticed the strange -visage on her face, she became confused. Why is she looking at me like that? I remember Jessica even scorned Aler when they first met, so why is she wearing that expression now?
Heather waved her hand in front of Jessica’s face and asked in perplexity, “Jessica, what’s with your reaction? Shouldn’t you be happy for me?”
Jessica laughed dryly, unsure of what to say. Perhaps I should indeed be happy for Alex.
After everything they had been through, Jessica had developed a deep affection for Alex, but she didn’t want to meddle in her best friend’s relationship before.
Now that she had learned Heather and Alex were divorced, Jessica actually felt a little jolly because she could now openly express her love for Alex.
However, Heather still didn’t know that their chairman was Alex. Jessica couldn’t help but feel awkward as she wondered how Heather would react when she found out the truth.
Anyhow, Jessica knew she couldn’t be, the one who disclosed that information to Heather. Otherwise, not only would Heather think lesser of her, but Alex would also be displeased since he didn’t want her to tell Heather the truth.
