A tremor went through Jared then. He stumbled to the ground and stared at Alex with trepidation Jared had never taken him seriously before that. 

The tables had now turned upon Magnus unexpected passing. Jared was just an elderly man Alex could get rid of without breaking a sweat, even if the latter wasn’t trained in martial arts. 

Jared didn’t wish to die when he had no scruples about committing the most heinous crimes in exchange for several extra years to enjoy the world’s riches in the first place.
