Son-In-Law Gets an Upgrade novel Chapter 902

Chapter 902 I Am Just A Loser

Although all the women had come to look for Alex with an agenda, none of them spoke up after seeing so many other women around.

After sitting through the torturous lunch, they excused themselves one by one for different reasons. The only two ladies who did not leave were Elsa and Heather.

Heather came to meet Alex because she hoped Alex could help Lucas again and at least make sure the latter wouldn’t die.

Elsa, on the other hand, merely sat and watched all those other women leave for no reason. As a policewoman, she was not as shy and meek as the other women. After all, she had yet to say a single word to Alex after meeting him.

“Alex, I didn’t expect you to be so popular. It’s amazing that you’ve got so many pursuers right after getting divorced. Well, I guess it’s not a surprise for you to have a lot of admirers since you’re such an exceptional man,” praised Elsa with a smile, suppressing her urge to confess that she was one of his admirers too.

Alex didn’t know how to react upon hearing that. Stealing a glance at Maggie, he told Elsa awkwardly, “Oh, you flatter me. You know very well that I’m notorious for being a loser in Nebula City. How am I exceptional?”

Heather tensed up the moment she heard the word “loser.” He sounded like he was mocking her for her foolish acts in the past.

However, she also knew that Alex did not intend to upset her and was merely being humble by saying that. In fact, now that they were divorced, there wasn’t a need for Alex to pay her any heed or consider her feelings.

Women know each other the best. Sensing Elsa’s feelings for Alex by observing the look in her eyes, Maggie felt the need to assert that Alex belonged to her alone.

As such, Maggie hugged Alex’s arm and said to Elsa with a smile, “Ms. Sawyer, may I ask why you came to meet Alex today? I’d like to bring him home to get some rest now that we’re done with lunch. He’s tired after the flight, you see.”

Following that, she turned her gaze to Heather, still wearing a smile. “I’m sure you’re here to see Stanley, right, Ms. Jennings? He misses his mother too.”

Stanley, who was sitting beside Heather, tugged her sleeve and pleaded, “Can you bring me out to play, Mom? I really want to spend time with you.”

“In that case, I’ll hand Stanley over to you, Ms. Jennings. Since Alex’s exhausted, I’ll bring him back to rest,” said Maggie, her smile constantly hanging on her face.

Then, she glanced at Alex meekly as a bashful expression emerged on her delicate face. “I don’t want you busying yourself tending to other things after a tiring day, so I made the decision for you. You won’t be mad at me, right?”

Alex was well aware that Maggie was jealous.

Pinching her cheeks, he said affectionately. “Of course not. I like your arrangement.”

Indifferently, he said to the rest. “I’ll be leaving first since there’s nothing else.”
