Instead of getting some rest upon reaching home, Alex immediately contacted a few famous designers from Pillere and invited them to Nebula City to design some wedding gowns for Maggie. 

As if that wasn’t extravagant enough, he even had a wild idea to build a castle just for Maggie in Nebula City. He wanted the castle to have a rooftop garden and to be located next to a vineyard that was named “Magnolia” after her. 

Alex did not tell Maggie about all that. Instead, he chose to carry out his plans secretly so he could give her a surprise. 

At that moment, Alex’s phone suddenly rang. When he saw it was a call from Jessica, he surmised something must have happened in the company. 

The moment the call connected, Jessica said in a troubled tone, “Mr. Jefferson, please make your way over to the office. Someone showed up to stir trouble, and we don’t know how to deal with it.” 

“Just get the security guards to settle it. They’re hired for a reason. Can’t they do their job?” said Alex solemnly. 

Jessica fell silent for a while before saying hesitantly, “But the perpetrator is Heather’s mother. She insists on meeting you. The security guards have already chased her away, but she refuses to leave and is now camping at the entrance, damaging the company’s reputation. I called you because we seriously have no. idea what to do.” 

Having lived with Carmen under the same roof for so many years, Alex knew her well. 

That woman is beyond shameless and unreasonable. She must’ve told the security guards that she’s my mother-in-law so she’s allowed to do whatever she wants. Looks like I don’t have a choice. If I don’t show up, she won’t give up and would still go over again even if the security guards chased her out. She wants to meet me, right? Very well. Let’s see what she wants. 

He drove to Four Seas Corporation and spotted a middle-aged woman lying at the entrance of the company as soon as he alighted from the car. She was none other than Carmen. 

It seemed like she had been lying on the floor for quite some time, ignoring the cold despite the fact that it was almost winter. 

A crowd of onlookers surrounded her, enjoying the show. After all, Four Seas Corporation was currently the largest company in Nebula City, and they had never seen anyone bold enough to kick up a fuss there. 

Striding over, Alex looked down at Carmen and asked coldly, “What do you want, Carmen? You’re not a three-year-old kid anymore. What are you doing throwing a tantrum here?” 

Carmen instantly jumped to her feet when she heard Alex’s voice. Ignoring his aloof attitude, she grabbed his arm in excitement and said ingratiatingly, “Oh, my dear son-in-law! You’re finally here! I’ve been lying on the cold floor for such a long time and almost froze to death, but it’s worth it now that I finally get to meet you!” 

Alex flung her arm away and sneered. He was not foolish enough to believe that Carmen had really changed. She just wants to ask me for help after finding out about my identity. 

“Get up from the floor. Let’s talk in the office. There are too many people here.” Although he had already divorced Heather, he still wanted to save Carmen some face.
