Gideon nodded and followed Nell out the door.
He supported her by the arm as they walked into the living and sat down on the sofa.
“What’s wrong?”Gideon asked.
“Do you remember that time I asked Janet for help to look for the Arcane Jades? She told me she had news, said there’s someone named Uncle Alfuth who seems to have one in his possession. I’ve already told Vickie about this. They’ll probably go there soon.”
Vickie and Gregory were not well acquainted with the Griffin family, and they had only met Janet and Liam once. “Didn’t Old Madam say that she wants to attend Old Madam Griffin’s birthday celebration? Why don’t we go with her? We can take care of her and help Vickie at the same time.”
Gideon stared at her and frowned.
“But your body…”
Nell shook her head.
“I’m fine.”
She giggled lightly and took Gideon’s hand in her own, placing it on her stomach.
“See? Your kids are behaving. They’re not bothering me at all.”
Gideon still looked more or less worried about her proposition. Nell continued, “What’s more, I’m thinking of visiting my mother and Uncle Sean during this trip we’re taking. I’m still a little worried about her even though we met last time and she seemed to be doing well. I want to see where she has been living all these years and whether she’s doing okay. Just pretend you’re making me feel better by tagging along with me, okay?”
Gideon usually could not resist Nell’s begging.
Nell represented his whole life in his heart. How could he say no to the things she wanted to do?
Hence, he sighed helplessly and reached an arm out to pull Nell close.
“Okay, I’ll go with you.”
The corners of Nell’s lips tugged up into a satisfying smile when he agreed reluctantly.
She slid an arm around his lean waist and rested her head on his chest.
“Gideon, you’re the best.”
……
The next day, Nell did not go to the office. Instead, she let Nancy drive her to the old residence.
Old Master and Old Madam were expecting her in their house.
They had ordered their butler to welcome her at the front of the residence.
Nell thought that this old couple was being rather dramatic. She was not an outsider, and it was certainly not her first time here. It was not like she did not recognize the way to their house. Nevertheless, the Old Madam still asked their butler to welcome her every time she came alone. It was a little embarrassing.
Despite that, the Old Madam insisted on doing so, citing the fact that she was pregnant and would have trouble walking as the reason. It would be horrible if she were to accidentally hurt herself.
Hence, she would always ask the butler she trusted most to welcome her arrival. It was only then that the Old Madam could stop worrying about Nell.
Nell wanted to laugh at the Old Madam’s loving concern.
She did not feel like she was having difficulties in walking. After all, she was only four months into her pregnancy and did not even look pregnant at all!
If she had difficulty walking now, then what would happen to those ladies who were eight or nine months pregnant?
