Nell blinked back in confusion.
She did not expect Gideon to take her angry comment seriously.
She moaned when she felt a small pain on the chin. “What are you doing? It hurts!” she said, annoyed.
“Answer me.”
The man’s eyes were cold, his voice laced with intimidation.
Nell immediately surrendered under his piercing stare.
Her eyebrows twitched. “To which question?”
“Who am I?”
“…”
Nell was speechless.
How stupid! Had he no idea who he was?
It was a shame that she only dared to think that to herself. She would never dare to express this opinion out loud.
She revealed a flattering smile before replying honestly, “Gideon Leith.”
“Hmm?”
“????”
Nell was at a loss for words.
Was that the incorrect answer?
She tried again, more tentatively this time. “President Leith?”
“…”
Gideon remained silent.
“Haha… You can’t possibly want me to call you Mr. President!”
Nell knew that was the wrong answer upon discovering the flurry of emotions that stormed across the man’s features.
“Ha! One last chance. Think properly, hmm?”
Nell bit her lips.
“Don’t do that!”
Biting those red lips with her white teeth made her look pitifully beautiful. It gave the man the urge to ravage them!
That was the reason why he pressed harder on her chin to stop her from doing so.
Nell grunted in pain.
Simultaneously, an idea flashed across her mind.
She looked at him in disbelief as if coming to a realization.
Then, she stammered with uncertainty, “Hus… Husband?”
Gideon laughed in a cold manner.
“Remember this term of endearment. Besides, I don’t want to hear that ever again, even if you didn’t mean it!”
The man’s gaze was cold and nonchalant as he warned her with a voice that reeked of intimidation. “Understand?”
Nell was rather confused but she nodded tactfully nonetheless.
Finally, Gideon released his grip and walked across the room. He noticed his cell phone on the bedside table when he was about to get into bed.
He twitched his beautiful eyebrows and shifted his attention toward her.
Nell quickly explained herself. “Someone called earlier. I tried to get your attention but you didn’t reply. I answered the call by accident.”
She felt slightly diffident at the thought of this.
Without commenting further, Gideon picked up his phone to have a look.
“What did she say to you?”
Nell revealed an embarrassed smile.
“Not much. Um… She’s your daughter, right?”
Gideon turned around to face her.
A couple of seconds later, he corrected. “Our daughter.”
“…”
Nell was stunned into silence.
Fortunately, she was not drinking water at this moment or she would have undoubtedly choked herself.
On second thought, she and Gideon were now legally married, thus his daughter would naturally become her daughter too.
She had gotten herself a daughter out of the blue. Nell, who had initially been slightly stunned, became delighted in a matter of seconds.
“That’s right. It seems like good news after all.”
She did not dislike the child. Besides, for reasons unknown to herself, while listening to the voice over the phone earlier, she felt rather familiar with the child despite not having met her before.
