“Unlike ‘Hidden River’, it’s only a minor production. The actresses nowadays, they won’t sign on if they’re famous and those who are willing, are lacking in acting skills. It’s rare to find someone like Janet who isn’t concerned whether it was a major or minor production and only has eyes for the script.”
Gareth then sighed. Nell really did not have the words to respond to him.
After a while, Gareth brought up. “Celine has been in contact with me, saying that she wishes to partake in the shoot and was interested in the female lead role. I’m not too sure myself due to her recent state of affairs.
“Although her looks should see her through more than anyone else with wardrobe and make up, I’m still quite concerned. What if halfway through the production, another scandal breaks out? It’s not going to be an easy fix then.”
Nell was taken by surprise.
With a twinkle in her eye, she asked, “Celine wants the role?”
Gareth replied, “Yes. Honestly speaking, my friend might be new in directing, but he does have the skills. I wouldn’t be helping him if that wasn’t the case. There are many that want in on the production, but it’s just that we can’t find the right people.
“I guess if it comes down to it, Celine is still a good choice. Although her image isn’t that great with the recent scandals, she still has quite the following. If she did the shoot well, the response should be well-received.
“It’s a minor production after all. A minor production wouldn’t tickle the fancy of a star of her quality.”
With downcast eyes, Nell fell into deep thought. Suddenly, she curled her lips into a smile.
“Alright, I got it. If it sits well with you, could you send me a copy of the script? I’ll reply to you tomorrow.”
Gareth was taken aback in the moment, unable to discern the meaning behind her words.
Nevertheless, he did not pursue an answer and agreed to it before hanging up.
Nell drove back home. She had just stepped into the house when her phone beeped, signaling an incoming mail in her mailbox.
While taking off her shoes, she clicked open the mail. It was an electronic-version of a script sent by Gareth.
Gideon was already home. Aware that she was out shopping and eating with her sister today, he left her alone for the evening.
During this time, the man had already had his dinner and had gone to the study.
Nell went upstairs after changing her shoes. Instead of looking for Gideon, she went straight to the bedroom.
Turning on the computer, Nell read through the script sent by Gareth.
The script itself was not long, being only an eighteen-episode web-series. However, it did take some time as she went through it word by word.
Gideon came out of the study and saw her sitting behind the computer rather focused on something. Thus, he did not bother her.
To his surprise, she still remained there with her attention stuck to the screen after he was done in the shower and that sort.
Gideon glanced at the time. With the clock striking midnight, he frowned.
“What are you looking at?”
As she was so absorbed on the screen, the sudden raspy and hoarse voice from behind gave her a jump.
She turned back and realized it was Gideon before heaving a sigh.
“Oh, nothing. It’s just a script.”
“What script is so important that you must read it now?”
Bending over, the man folded his arm past hers and clicked on the cursor. The title of the script was immediately visible in sight.
‘Cannon Fodder Guide’.
The man raised a brow while rosiness crept up Nell’s cheeks. She stammered in explanation. “It’s only a temporary name. It should be changed later on. Er... That... It’s the script to a web-series. It’s not a major production. I’m just having a look-see.”
Gideon let out a chilly smile. “This script is worth your time this late?”
He pointed at the hands on his watch.
Realizing it was late, Nell subtly expressed agreement.
On the other end.
